Montero test drive report:

Steering effort is lighter than my former 2009 Monty GLS SE. Not mabigat, not magaan, tama lang. Everest still has the lightest steering effort

Ride is comfortable, more comfortable than the Everest and much more comfortable than my former Monty

Interior color is not dumihin due to black color unlike Everest and upcoming Fortuner na beige and brown

Touchscreen has iPhone and Android screen mirroring

Leather seats are softer than the Everest Trend variant but as soft as the Everest Titanium variants

Engine is more responsive than the 2.2L engine of the Everest, quieter also

8 speed A/T shifts smoother than the 6 speed A/T of the Everest

For now, it's a close fight between Monty and Eve based on my test drive, Monty winning by a slight advantage.

Sir lichking how will you compare engine responsiveness of all new montero vs outgoing montero VGT? And vs. fortuner? I own MS 2014 GTV i drove a fortuner last week parang gasolina kung humatak.

like night and day. i also drove the MS 2012 GLSV before. overtaking is super easy.

Nice review but how about turbo lag sir?

Turbo lag is still there but it's significantly less than the 2.5 4D56 VGT which I also drove before going to Anvaya Cove and La Union using my bestfriend's former Montero GTV. The turbo lag on the 2.4 4N15 is minimal compared to the 2.5 4D56 VGT

Regarding gls prem vs gls, aside dun sa tech sheet, it seems wala ding turning lights and power fold sa side mirrors and 2nd row headrest yung gls. Pero nakaka hinayang parin yung jump from 1.44m gls to 1.62m to prem. Gusto ko pa naman turning lights sa side mirror. Haha.

Sa Bonifacio Highstreet may display ng GT and GLS Premium both Automatic. Meron ding available for test drive 4 units. Tatlong GLS Premium 4x2 AT, Isang GLS Premium 4x4 MT. Tried the GLS Premium 4x2 AT.

I test drove a gray Montero Sport GLS Premium 4x2 during the BGC pre-launch last Saturday and I was amazed. Compared with the Ford Everest which I test drove in the morning, I was impressed more with the bells and whistles of a monty. There's a reverse camera and TPMS. I was initially informed from another dealer that they were not included. He advised that the "equipped (dealer option)" is usually not provided which I found odd. Fortunately, this has been clarified by my Manila Bay agent. In terms of ride, comfort and turning radius, I found the monty smooth and good.

I love everything about the new montero (we are reserved in getting one) except for this one minor issue I hear about the engine. There is like this high pitched humming or buzzing sound (parang whistle) which is not heard with the previous model.

However, My gf owns a previous model of the Montero sport and says that she also had that sound at first but it will go off eventually din naman...

They are starting to deliver the new Montero units to their owners right before the launch which is on January 20.

I'm about to release my GLS A/T standard last Friday but ended up in frustration and disapointment with the Citimotors Las Pinas Dealership.

So I have to cancel this transaction with them ... NEVER EVER AGAIN with CITIMOTORS ... This dealership SUCKS BIG TIME.

They are refusing to accept my Insurance which is Prudential Guarantee and they are requiring to see an original Copy of the policy which is under my name.

parang wala silang tiwala sa customer and with the insurance... pwede naman nilang i verify yan kung talaga naka insured.

Sa sobrang inis ko, nag backout ako maski nakabayad na ako ng Insurance.

.... now di ko alam kung gaano katagal nila maibabalik ang Refund ko sa Deposit na 20k.

Sa simpleng issue di na maayos? paano pa kung mas malaki?

Almost lahat ng owner nasa 1st year ang pagka OC kaya best for the dealers na sa kanila kumuha ng insurance.

Its a customer option sir... masyadong mahal ang insurance sa dealer kaya ayaw ko. I always do that wala naman problema... sa Kanila lang nagka problema ang ganyan.

Yes ! maraming much better Dealer na maganda ang customer service... sa citimotors hindi pa Free ang LTO (Plus 10,500) ka pa. karamihang dealers naman at FREE na ang LTO.

The steering effort is not heavy. It's significantly lighter than the old Montero.
