An airplane flies because its wings create lift, the upward force on the plane, as they interact with the flow of air around them. The wings alter the direction of the flow of air as it passes. And here's where the trick to the problem comes in. Take note that in the problem it's the runway that's moving the opposite direction, not the wind.
