As Pepeng moves toward Luzon, Auxiliary Bishop Lucilo Quiambao of the Archdiocese of Legazpi encouraged Filipinos to pray the “Oratio Imperata For Deliverance From Calamities.”

The prayer was said to have helped spare Albay from typhoons and disasters since Supertyphoon “Reming” struck almost three years ago.

The prayer has been recited since October 2007 in all the churches in the diocese during Mass. “Many have already asked for a copy of the prayer and it has already reached the United States,” Quiambao said.

He asked that the prayer be recited in the parishes, homes and communities.

    ORATIO IMPERATA
    FOR DELIVERANCE FROM CALAMITIES

(Please pray at every Mass after the Post-Communion Prayer.)

Almighty Father, we raise our hearts to You in gratitude
for the wonders of creation of which we are part,
for Your providence that sustains us in our needs, and
for Your wisdom that guides the course of the universe.

We acknowledge our sins against You and the rest of creation.
We have not been good stewards of Nature.
We have confused Your command to subdue the earth.

The environment is made to suffer our wrongdoing,
and now we reap the harvest of our abuse and indifference.
Global warming is upon us. Typhoons, floods, volcanic eruption,
and other natural calamities occur in increasing number and intensity.

We turn to You, our loving Father, and beg forgiveness for our sins.
We ask that we, our loved ones and our hard-earned possessions
be spared from the threat of calamities, natural and man-made.
We beseech You to inspire us all to grow into
    responsible stewards of Your creation,
and generous neighbors to those in need.
    Through Christ, our Lord.

    Amen.

    ORATIO IMPERATA
PARA MAKALIKAY SA MGA KARATAN NIN PANAHON

(Pamibion sa lambang Misa pagkatapos kan Huring Pamibi)

Amang makakamhan, iniitaas mi an samong mga puso

Dai mi nasabotan asin naotob an Saimong kabotan
    na atamanon an kinaban.

An kapalibutan nagsasakit huli kan samong mga salang gibo,
asin ngonyan namamatean mi na an padusang-balik
    kan samong pag-abuso asin kapabayaan.

Padagos an labi-labing pag-init kan kinaban.
Huli kaini nagdadakul asin nagkukusog an mga bagyo, baha,

    Amen.

I meant work. I'm really scared right now. I am getting text messages that it's going to be as strong as Katrina and that it is going to hit Metro Manila. I live with people above 60 and I am worried about leaving them at home but I have no choice because I have to go to work. Some companies have no work for today in preparation for the typhoon. That would never happen where I work, they'd ask us to go to work even if it's signal no 4 already. hay.

The main body of the storm would make landfall by tonight. You be seeing rains caused by the storm by mid-afternoon.

Be glad that this storm is not a direct hit to metro manila.

Just get the usual stuff ready for this storm:

    -emergency food and water
-flashlight and batteries (candles, matches, lighter might also be handy)
    -first aid kit
-other stuff that may help either during or immediately after the storm (tools, tape, ropes, etc).

Typhoon Parma is forecast to strike the Philippines as a super typhoon at about 12:00 GMT on 3 October. Data supplied by the Joint Typhoon Warning Center suggest that the point of landfall will be near 17.2 N, 123.2 E. Parma is expected to bring 1-minute maximum sustained winds to the region of around 268 km/h (166 mph). Wind gusts in the area may be considerably higher.’ Reuters said.

I saw that movie already and the paranoia lingered for a few days nga but the scariest for me was Outbreak.

I was supposed to take a leave but my boss told me that I cannot be absent today unless the government declares that there will be no work. Mahirap din kasi mapaginitan. Anyway, I feel relieved now knowing that Metro Manila will not be a direct hit. I have friends from Provident Village and Vista Verde and we really don't need any more typhoons in our area.

BTW in our neighborhood grocery wipe out na bread, canned goods and fruits.

Charge all the things that needs to be charged while it's early ( cellphone, ipods etc. ) And, dont forget.....batteries!

More or less, electricity will be cut sometime tomorrow due to the heavy winds etc.

Who will go out later? It's a friday. :bwahaha:
