category 5 na sya ngayon....tsk tsk tsk.....
weather is changing na talaga....
And the worst part is that hurricane season doesn't end until November 30.
When I went to Bauang, La Union weeks ago, I noticed that the water level has risen dramatically. Gone are the wide shores where you can sun-bathe and have a picnic. The water could kiss the barriers set by the cottage owners and the fishermen's boats could to be tied on walls since there are no shores at all.
Things have been changing a lot lately.
i'm not too much of a "tree-hugger" (hehe), but all these climate changes and nature changes are pretty alarming. super hot summers, super cold winters, super strong hurricanes, dramatically retreating glaciers, toxic algae infestations,... it's just a matter of time until mankind posions itself to extinction, yikes!
hilig kasi nating lahat mag-on ng aircons e (kahit ako)!! even refs, yan tuloy nagkakaroon na ng global warming at polar ice melting! wala tayong magagawa having to live a life with sophisticated technology comes at a price!!![]()

tsk katakot nga yan, pagdasal na lng natin silang mga maaaring tamaan ng hurricane. Any idea kung san daw tatamang state ung hurricane?
our ozone is thinning up... kelangan we make use of more primitive and natural stuff rather than man made stuff
Texas is most likely, since dun magla-landfall yung hurricane. Louisiana mukhang tatamaan din. Pero New Orleans ang pinakadelikado, since sobrang weakened yung flood control system nila as a result of Katrina. As much as three inches of rain can result in floodwaters in low-lying cities.Originally Posted by mhelskie

jinx yata si bush eh. lahat ng disaster manmade or natural sa term nya nangyari.![]()

And to think that Bush refuses to sign the Kyoto Protocol on reducing the emission of greenhouse gases, even if the US is the biggest polluter in the planet. I'd hate to think that this is karma.Originally Posted by mantoy
Ah... that is a debatable topic.Originally Posted by ILuvDetailing
Theoretically, an increase in the mean sea temperature will help facilitate the creation of more hurricane / storms. But in reality, the global number of hurricane / storms is just constant (which can be contributed to the wind factor which can either break or make it)
Another topic for debate is whether global warming can actually make hurricane / storms stronger. Data shows that there is definitely an increase in the strength of hurricane / storms over the past couple of decades.
And also - the real effects of global warming is still up for debate. Some theorize that global warming will actually HELP the planet as it will increase CO2 levels and rainfall - thereby boosting plant life. Some even theorize that global warming is a natural occurrence that will happen even without the intervention of man - remember how it broke the Ice Age?
