September 22nd, 2005 04:12 PM #1After Katrina, it's now Rita.
It looks like Hurrican Rita is going to be even stronger than Katrina. Nasa 175mph (280km/h) na ang winds...
Two monster hurricanes in a matter of a few weeks...

Another topic for debate is whether global warming can actually make hurricane / storms stronger. Data shows that there is definitely an increase in the strength of hurricane / storms over the past couple of decades.
And also - the real effects of global warming is still up for debate. Some theorize that global warming will actually HELP the planet as it will increase CO2 levels and rainfall - thereby boosting plant life. Some even theorize that global warming is a natural occurrence that will happen even without the intervention of man - remember how it broke the Ice Age?

And the worst part is that hurricane season doesn't end until November 30.

When I went to Bauang, La Union weeks ago, I noticed that the water level has risen dramatically. Gone are the wide shores where you can sun-bathe and have a picnic. The water could kiss the barriers set by the cottage owners and the fishermen's boats could to be tied on walls since there are no shores at all.
Things have been changing a lot lately.
