Sayang tong brand na ito, it was sold by the Wongs to RFM before being eventually sold to San Miguel - Coke, who then killed the brand, giving rise to RC Cola.

    sarsi still lives.
but it think it's manufactured abroad and imported here.

RC cola is Royal Crown cola from the start.

We were selling this, back when we had a mini mart. I see them smoking it "inverted style". We also had this so called champion blue seal. I couldn't understand back then why this particular brand of cigarette is kept hidden and is priced like gold among the cigarette brands.

para raw hindi mabasa ng tubig-ulan.

from what i vaguely remember, blue seals were illegal imports (smuggled goods!) and were thus highly prefered by smokers and hunted by customs agents..
even today, "blue seal" means smuggled.

liwayway magazine was not a chan product. it was someone else's, then hans menzi's, and later until today, manila bulletin's.

Smuggled goods! And that should answer my other question why the house has a secret room. It is a room inside the master's bedroom and its access is through a small cabinet. Since my grandparents died, my mother is using that room as storage and so made a door on the other side to make it accessible.

pag malala na sakit namin, graham crackers na ang binibigay.
during those yesteryears, graham crackers were considered upper echelon. today, they are baking material.

Perhaps it was an architectural design trend during those times. The other side leads to the dining room and then straight to the kitchen.

I visited my mother a few days ago, and I'm saddened how "old and neglected" the house became to be. The former beauty that I can remember when I was a kid is no longer there... At least, the "office" of my grandfather in the second floor is somehow good. But the music room on the third floor, I couldn't find the piano!

I better get out of here, there might be some custom agents lurking around!

the strangest arrangements are seen in re-purposed houses. everything seems logical, once the explanation is known.

not everyone has a piano in the music room. consider smaller, more portable instruments like violin, flute, good tire (guitar). heh heh.
also, pianos deteriorate fast, if not used. baka inanay na and they had to pull her out, lest the rest of the house gets anay-ed.

my kakilala's house has a secret trapdoor, giving escape access to the batalan behind.. japanese days' design.
