yesterday nasa zambales ako, black out din sa southern parts. well i first noticed it when we were at cabangan already and the lights were out all the way to subic. did not notice it at sbma, may mga power generators sila.
ganyan talaga ang protection features ng isang power grid. if the load goes more than 100% it will automatically lower the load by switching off sections (service stations, where you have the transformer farm). OR if a power station (generator) falls off line or goes out of sync (due to some problems internally) it will kick out that power station from the grid. if that happens and the load goes above 100% and the other generators will be overloaded before the load can be lowered then the safety features in the power station will automatically cause the power station to go off line to prevent it from overloading. that is the most probable reason why 6 power stations went off line and several service stations were cut off, to prevent the power stations from damage and to lower the load on the generators that are still on line.
I used to have a Yamaha at home which could support our lights and an aircon + refrigerator. Too bad i left it alone in the last few years and ended up junking it. If it's brownout and hot, i just load the kids up and head to my Tito's house (god bless Pinoy close family ties indeed) in the same subdivision where he has a generator that can power the entire house 100% (tambay nalang sa guest room). :D
*Yebo, i think Subic still has it's own powerplant. I remember back in the dark ages (early 1990s), it was one of the places we would vacation at because walang power interruptions. The houses were nice as they were still in their US Naval Station spec that time.
2kVa = ~ 1600w
AC 3/4hp = 560w
EF x2 = 60w x 2 = 120w
Ref 7cu.ft. = 165w
CFL = 14wx2 = 28w
Total Wattage: 873 watts - you still have spare for the starting current.
