    OT: If there's anything that will come to a heated political debate in the near future, it'll be power rates because, apart from taxes, it's the single biggest drain on a person's salary or wages.

    Johnny Enrile was brilliant to use the issue of PPA (power purchase agreements with take or pay provisions) in his earlier political campaign as it appealed to a broad group of voters (rich, middle class, poor) regarding high electricity costs in households. I wonder why other aspiring senators or congressmen haven't followed suit.

    Puro election campaign ideas lang magaling si Manong Johnny. Kaso hindi siya happy dun sa idea niya. Mas happy siya sa "import" biz niya sa Cagayan.:D

    Went on panic mode yesterday. Bought a bunch of batteries since my rechargeables weren't juiced up. When i got home me ilaw na(not that i'm complaining).

    Medyo malayo po ang connection, but i'm reminded about how the Japanese reacted during the last earthquake/tsunami/nuclear disaster. For the longest time i thought to myself, deym, iba talaga ang Japanese, selfless, tumutulong talaga. Then i read this interview where one person said they were confident that the Japanese government would help them out.

    Dun lang ako natauhan; i'm not implying anything bad about the Japanese people, but i guess at some level they can "afford" to be generous because they feel their government can and will back them up. Sadly i can't say the same for us with the same level of confidence.

    Agree with this 100%. We are a third world country pretending to be first world. Everything's fine and dandy until the next Ondoy rolls in.

    On the business side, this is what keeps costs of goods high.

    i did some research on this a few years back; based on what a very helpful shop owner told me, Firman and Kipor ung medyo OK na China brands. The rest are meh. No idea about Powermate but they are the most visible.

    VTEC dapat yung generator ha.

    I used to have a Yamaha at home which could support our lights and an aircon + refrigerator. Too bad i left it alone in the last few years and ended up junking it. If it's brownout and hot, i just load the kids up and head to my Tito's house (god bless Pinoy close family ties indeed) in the same subdivision where he has a generator that can power the entire house 100% (tambay nalang sa guest room). :D

    *Yebo, i think Subic still has it's own powerplant. I remember back in the dark ages (early 1990s), it was one of the places we would vacation at because walang power interruptions. Tatambay lang kami sa house halos buong araw at magbuhay baboy. The houses were nice as they were still in their US Naval Station spec that time.

    maliliit na sets hindi ko alam eh... kubota ata sir...

    pero yangdong matibay talaga yan.... kaya nga ayan ang usual na binebenta ng generator co. dito at hindi basta basta nasisira...

    isipin mo nalang sa halagang 39k, kung hindi maganda quality, pati co. nyo masisira dahil lang sa halagang 39k..... then sakit din sa ulo ng companya ang after sales service naman...

    yung ibang nagbebenta ng gensets nga, rebage na yangdong yung gensets nila eh...

    Ahh, thanks sa tip boss. sa ace hard ware, wilcon at yung isang hardware (na nakalimutan) ko pa lang pangalan eh ako nagcanvass. pero dami pa gastos kaya ipon ipon mode muna.

    2kva kaya po ang 0.6hp -3/4hp na AC, 6~7.5cu.ft na ref, 2 normal electric fan (hindi yung bakal na mataas wattage) and 2 14w na CFL. 2kVa = 1,600 kw.

    2kVa = ~ 1600w

    AC 3/4hp = 560w
    EF x2 = 60w x 2 = 120w
    Ref 7cu.ft. = 165w
    CFL = 14wx2 = 28w

    Total Wattage: 873 watts - you still have spare for the starting current.

Luzon wide power outage!
