BPI or Bank of the Philippine Islands is celebrating their 160 years of service. They are also promoting in their adverts that you can save minutes if you bank with them. Yet my years of personal experience at one of the branches says differently.

I have been a client since 2004. And since that time until today I could defintely say that their service has NOT improved. Doing a simple cheque deposit would require me to allocate at least 45 minutes to an hour of my time just waiting in line to get to the teller. Why is that? That happens practically every time I go there to either pay a bill, withdraw or deposit into my accounts.

What got my goat was within the last couple of years, the amount of waiting in line has simply gotten out of hand. If they're planning to keep me waiting for such a long time, they should already be serving coffee and snacks. At least airlines have the decency to do that for their waiting passengers.

Okay, they have installed a "computerize" system to help speed up the cues in the last few months. BUT I fail to see any improvements months later after they have implemented the system. It is still the same minimum 30 to 45 minute waiting whether or not there is actually anyone transacting with the tellers. Let me point out that there are other banks that can get me processed under ten minutes with more people ahead of me.

BPI, let me tell you this, the problem is NOT in the cue. It is the simple fact that you lack tellers. WHY is it that the people handling the SERVICES cannot accept teller transactions? Other banks have done it and it greatly decreases the waiting time in the line and improves customer satisfaction as well. Cost to the bank, ZERO. No need to spend hundreds of thousands of pesos for an over-hyped computerized cuing system.

BPI, I doubt if you're system is going to improve anytime soon. I have given you enough of my life waiting in your pointless cues. I'm closing my accounts with you once I can schedule half a day (I assume that is enough??) to do it at the branch.

Tama ka GH. Kapag ako nagdedeposit sa BPI, ang tagal. Sobra. Hindi OA yung 30-45m mo, correct figures iyan.

    Mabuti pa Metrobank. Mabilis.

I can feel for you. Sometime last week or the other week, we went to a BPI branch to deposit a check to my wifes BPI account. Take not this check was also a BPI check albeit with a different branch. after waiting 15 minutes or so, we were told by the teller to wait for at least another 45 minutes before we can deposit the check since they have to confirm with the source branch. WTF. why do you have to do that, in other banks, they will process the deposit for you just like a cash deposit and all you have to do is wait for it to be cleared before you can use the funds, you don't need to wait for 45 minutes before you can even process it. So what we did is go to our other bank and we were done in no more than 10 minutes.

At the branch of UCPB where I also have transactions, aside from the coffee, you can notice they increase the number of tellers if they see the cue getting longer, which really does help get the line moving a whole lot faster.

That part I appreciate a whole lot more than the coffee.

To add to my rant above....

To: BPI Branch Manager HELENA TIU, maybe you should not let your bank STAFF front for you when your CUSTOMERS wants to talk to the BRANCH MANAGER because I know the lady you asked to talk to me was not you because I know who you are.

The fact is I asked the lady who fronted for you if she is the branch manager TWICE and both times she LIED by saying she is the branch manager. So how the f*ck would you ask me the trust the bank if the staff lies to their customers?

Kaya siguro wala akong reklamo whenever I withdraw or deposit.

That's what you call absolute customer service!

kasi siga yung top 3 banks (Metro, BDO, BPI)

they have this attitude na mas kailangan mo sila kesa kailangan nila ikaw

they don't have to please you

ang ibang bangko (like yung example na UCPB) they're competing with the big 3 so they have to do something the big 3 arent doing

kaya they make an effort to please

i beg to disagree with this.
client handling and customer service depends on branch locations, mind you.
the more dense the population around the branch is, the more queuing time you need.
it's just the way it is. don't think the bank disregard their client's needs. they only act to the best of their knowledge balancing prompt service with the available resource.

my advise? enroll in online banking like modern people do to avoid falling in lines

As sir foresterx mentioned you can get preferential treatment from most banks, you just need to establish a good relationship with the branch and have a substantial account with them. Of course it doesn't hurt to be friendly to all the staff and officers. Mahaba din ang pila sa BDO, MBTC, RCBC, depending on the branch, day, if coming off a long string of holidays, deadline for bills payment, etc. Becoming a preferred client is still the best way to avoid long queues. Tama din lang naman na may ganoong privelege, by nature mas delikado ang bigger transactions the longer you have to stay inside.

If any banks are reading this it might be a good idea to separate the queues for bills payments, SSS, Philhealth contributions by non-depositors from the transactions of depositors. Yun kasi ang nakakapahaba talaga sa pila. And it will never make any depositor who has an actual stake in the bank feel like they are appreciated if they have to stand in line with people who only use the bank to pay their bills. It doesn't feel safe with so many people inside.
