si boba fett cool. pangit lang yung spaceship nya...parang plantsa
the spaceship designs of star wars are pretty intriguing as well, not the conventional saucer or train-like shape.
i've always wondered how some of those ships would land B)
the best ang B-Wing
people love starwars because it is something to look forward to, makes life less boring, and escape even for just 2 or so hours their mundane everyday life hehe
hey! i like star wars! :bwahaha:
it's the whole setting, not necessarily the movies. parang yung LOTR, ganun din.
I've been collecting Stars Wars stuff for the past 18 yrs. already... I also went to the Ep1 wearing a Queen Amidala costume..hehehe I make sure that I'm one of the first people to catch the premiere.
Collected all the books...starting with Timothy Zahn onwards to the New Jedi Order (Yuuhzan Vong). If I can't get them here, I make sure to get them whenever I'm abroad.
I also have all their games sa PC. I also participated in talks regarding the "philo" and culture behind Star Wars sa UP and Ateneo a few years back.
But, up to now with all honesty, I still can't fully explain why I'm such a nut over this. hehehe my wife can't even tell the difference between Star Wars and Star Trek!
I like the series pero di ako hardcore fan. Ok naman it may seem cheesy to me pero back in it's time yan yung pinaka OK ang effects and storyline.
I read somewhere it's acutally a ripoff of a Japanese samurai story hence the Japanese inspired Jedi costumes and those light sabers ala Katana ng mga samurai warriors
i saw Star Wars in a theater when it was first shown and as a kid I was hooked. I'm a big scifi fan and so it was only natural that I would really like the series.
My cousin is a big LOTR fans and he always complains that SW is so poorly written and the acting is terrible (young Anakin and Jarjar). But IMHO looking for Shakespearean acting is SW is asking for too much and misses the point of what movies like SW are all about: entertainment. SW fans go to watch the movies not to look for religious or philosophical significance. they go to have fun, to be entertained. And SW does this very very well, for me and other SW anyway.
IMHO, it would have been better if George Lucas just design the ships, technology and look of the series and have someone else write the scripts. But he didn't so we have to live with it. Despite these weaknesses, the films are still very entertaining and I expect the same thrills I experienced when I first witnessed the huge Imperial Star Destroyer fill the screen in 1977

shhh! baka may mga makadinig na SW Geek ako... hindi ko basta-basta aaminin 'yan..hehehe
critics point to Akira Kurosawa's classic "The Hidden Fortress" as a sort of template for the Star Wars movie. Parang similar nga story. Astig samurai escorts princess back to her kingdom etc etc.
and the Japanese influence, i think, doesn't stop there. There's also the clothes and the fighting style for the light saber duels which is actually kendo.
as an aside, I like the series, its plain entertainment. But I aint going to spend the night waiting outside moviehouses or dress up in the costumes.
