i remember reading or watching ( nat geo ata) somewhere that when india exterminated a huge number of feline furries in their neighborhoods a few years back, the mice and rat population increased exponentially so much so that rodent infestation and the diseases it borught w/ them became a huge ass problem. so i guess we all have to be wary of the law of unintended consequences coming into play here

March 1st, 2016 12:09 AM #123If we drive away the cats, dadami ang daga. If we drive away the rats by using another pest control freq, what happens? Anyway, we don't exterminate the cats, we just drive them away - to transfer to our neighbor's premises. Killing cats in our country is verboten. Animal rights.

Group offers P50K to catch cat killers
February 2, 2016 •
The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) Asia has offered a P50,000 reward for the capture of cat killers in Makati City (Metro Manila).
About 12 community cats have gone missing since January 13, with some of those brutally killed found in exclusive Dasmariñas Village.
According to a circular released by the village management, “one cat died slowly and painfully” from chemical burns. It alleged that a paint thinner was poured over the animal.
The community cats in the village have been spayed and neutered through CARA Welfare’s Trap-Neuter-Return program and are fed by residents of the village.
The management and security group of Dasmariñas Village have promised to look into the barbaric cat killing, but no suspects have been identified so far.
“It’s imperative that any community faced with a violent act such as the vicious killing of the community cats of Dasmariñas Village take measures to find the culprit or culprits and bring them to justice,” said PETA Asia Vice President for International Operations Jason Baker.
He added, “Animal abusers are a danger to everyone: They take their issues out on whomever is available to them, human or non-human, and must be caught before they act again. We’re appealing to anyone with information about those responsible for these cruel crimes to come forward now so that the perpetrator or perpetrators can be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
The animal rights organization noted that aggravated cruelty to animals carries a penalty of up to P250,000 and three-year imprisonment under the Animal Welfare Act of 1998 as amended by Re public Act 10631.
It encouraged anyone who can provide information leading to the identification and conviction of the violators to call PETA Asia hotline at 0999-888-7382.
