Natatawa. Napaka elitista kasi.

Embarrassed I just finished with our meeting, the VP of branch and I presented. It was a full house so some people were standing already. After the meeting my VP boss said, why are they [made texting gesture] even the supervisor. Kakahiya.

I'm not strict with phone on meetings and I think it's a Filipino thing? My VP said he will never phone with his boss in a meeting

Kasi nga pati negative at faults sinasabi.

I’m not questioning Glenn’s knowledge, parehas na kami naluma dito hahaha!

Pero yun mga members na “only car” at “first car” lang nila yun sasakyan na iyon. Not only applies in FECP, daming ganyan. Lalo yun mga “low end”

no cellphones or no checking of phones?

Even the VP of branch had his phone on the desk but he did not check it when it beeped. I checked mine once (while presenting) because I wanted to know how much more time I had to present. I didn't wear a watch and when PPT is on slide show, walang clock. Yung German VP boss ko said, yung isang supervisor nagpho phone talaga. I told an AVP here what my boss said and she said she also saw the supervisor on the phone. HAY! Hindi talaga ma phone mga foreigner ata?

Hehehe hindi naman. But we got one for errands and occasional family use. Nothing special. Just a midsize Ranger based SUV that comfortably seat 7 people. With sunroof. [emoji23] ang bagal pa.

    hindi ba dahil it's etiquette?

first worlders are polite so it's an unspoken rule na pag nasa meeting naka silent and nobody checks their phones

No checking of cellphones,- either no cellphone or cellphone/s facing down (silent mode).

We have a timer though for the "time check" as we don't want to overrun their preciously tight schedule (I was the one dictating though....)...

That's what I noticed about my German bosses, they are extremely polite. Kasi naman even the heads would check their phones once in a while (we do have blackberry work). Leadership by example - kaya tuloy yung lower ranks hindi na rin nahihiya to check their phone. It really bothered my VP boss kasi kinwento niya sa AVP friend ko from ANOTHER DEPARTMENT. Grabe!!!

Pero sa area naman ako, I don't do it on meetings.

I agree bro,- this is the primary reason why....

Unfortunately for many of us here,- it is free-wheeling....

I feel guilty because I glanced at my phone, but only to check the time since the VP also needed to present. Wala naman kasi nga time pag naka slide show.

It just made me realize naging sobrang lenient na sa office namin na we tend to forget these things already. I don't attend meetings kasi (since my direct report is in HQ) The only meetings I attend are the ones I chair or I am needed as resource, kaya I don't notice much sino naka phone.

ung inip na inip na nagwiwish sana matapos na so they can get on with their lives

For our company, we are expected to leave the room during a meeting if we intend to use our phones. I guess it has to do with the size of the room and number of employees kasi everyone will notice you are using your phone while someone is talking or reporting.
