Supply, soil or rain spouts? Common on 'industrial' influenced homes. Some even on commercial applications. Was awed by how they converted the old Nabisco factory into Chelsea Market (pic below...good lobster.[emoji4]).
As advocates of low/easy maintenance construction, the thrust is to try avoiding roof gutters where possible....w/ the catchment on the ground instead of up the roof. No unsightly spouts, nothing to spend on & no leaks to repair.
On bath supply lines, embed em on the outer side of walls for easier repair access in leak cases. One doesn't need to go chipping tiles this way.
