many misinterpret christianity as meaning that absolutely everything will be divinely provided for hehe

sabi nga sa gospel diba, "don't bring even a spare tunic blah blah"... mukhang masyadong literal yung pagbasa ng iba

    yup... grossly misinterpreted...

God will provide you... if you look for a job & do it right...

God will provide you... if you cut back on unnecessary spending / expenses

Filipinos are not poor, they're just don't know how to save and more often than not lazy. Given there are really poor people but we'll exclude them for this argument. Take our employees for example, our senior salesman makes around 10K+ a month (plus perks), minsan (at least once a week) pumapasok lasing, amoy na amoy yung gin, pag tinatanong mo dinedeny. Halos maubos na sweldo niya sa alak and he has four young children, he already suffered a minor siezure (mali ata spelling ), di pa nadadala. Plus, typically (again am not generalizing this is based on experience) when they get past 5 years on their jobs, they become hard headed and lazy, but still they want a raise but don't work for it hence we have strikes. All we want from our employees is to become hardworking and save their money. 3 days after getting their salary vali nanaman.

talagang nde literal.

Some of our employees sa factory are like that also. Nde namen alam gagawin namen kase as far as we're concerned kakasweldo lang ng asawa nya sa men. May interest pa yun. hanubayun.

Kahit ipangutang ang handa sa piyesta o kahit outing man lang, gagawin basta mag enjoy sila, which IMHO is not a very wise move.

i knew a guy who was in regular contact with trailer truck drivers. bawat pasada pala, they earn something like 2.5k(this was early 90's pa), and at least nakaka 4-5 trips sila per day(hindi naman araw araw though). but at the start of the week walang pera; naubos sa kakagood time the past weekend.

    Reasons why Filipinos are poor:

    1. Image-consciousness. "Screw three square meals a day, and decent housing. I NEED THAT NEW CELL PHONE. NOW. Screw paying debts, I NEED THAT NEW CAR. NOW."

    2. Superstitiousness. "I'm lucky every nth day of the month, so nothing bad will happen to me financially. I'm lucky during <insert phase of moon here>." *goes on a spending spree*

    3. Vices. Alcohol, tobacco, cellphones. Yes, I consider overuse of cellphones a vice. A so-called "sulit" unlimited plan simply encourages people to waste hours talking over the phone. My idiot classmates call each other even when they're in the same room, kasi "naka-unlimited naman ako eh".

    4. Pessimism. "I'm a hardworking guy, but the Philippines will never progress." *goes abroad and never comes back*

    5. Laziness. "I need a job!!!!!" *sits down and does nothing* "I don't particularly care for my job, so I'll slack off. Hey, why the hell am I not getting a raise?" *goes on strike*

99% of the text that comes through my cell phone, usually love/inspirational quotes, greetings, jokes, and pr0n are utter trash. I have not been forwarding anything that comes through my inbox in years.

Unless you're a businessman who needs to make a call every five minutes, "unlimited" features are worthless and will actually make you spend more. Again, most of my friends will talk to each other in the same room using the phone para "masulit" ang kanilang unlimited. All those text messages and talk time, whether or not you're on unlimited, is rendered worthless by using the landline (wala pang bad signal or low batt). Or better yet, talking in person.

Another problem is when these negative attitudes overlap, notably pessimism and laziness.

"Yay, we have a new President! He/she promises to turn the Philippines around."

    *after one week*

"What the hell, broken promises! The Philippines is HOPELESS."

Then we can have some of these:

Superstitious+Lazy: "Panginoon ko, tulungan niyo po ako makaahon sa kahirapan, upang umunlad ang buhay ng pamilya namin. Amen." *does nothing* "Diyos ko po, bakit niyo po ako pinapahirapan ng ganito? Maawa po kayo!" (It can be argued that God isn't a superstition, depending on who you ask, but this will serve the purposes of Superstitious+Lazy)

Superstitiousness+Vices: "According to the Horoscope, today is my lucky day." *buys all the lottery tickets, goes to all the casinos, texts as many promos as possible to 2366*

Image Consciousness+Vices: "My friends have expensive cellphones and they text a lot, so must I so I look cool!"

    wait...

instead of picking on the negative attitudes, bad habits or mentality per say,
ever wonder how you can make a difference???

my answer to "image consciousness" problem is:
i dont give a damn what they think attitude... i can care less if my cell phone is sooooooooo 8 years old and i cant take picture using it... just because you have the latest gizmo doesn't mean you're automatically in the "it club". my phone serves its purpose and i have a camera that can take real photos.

but wait, who am i to speak? i left the country as soon as Erap won the election!!!

Well, when I become a politician...

...I might get a BIG lot, a tiny house, and use the rest of the lot as a garage. Then, I'll buy a fleet of small cars (not a small fleet of cars, a fleet of small cars).

Hehehehehe j/k. But this is Tsikot.com after all!

Seriously, it would be better if the politicians should spend their not-so-hard-earned money on PR instead of bodyguards and big cars with ultra-dark tints. They wouldn't need such crap if people didn't hate them in the first place.

The Filipinos may be poor but the Philippines is a rich country in terms of natural resources and food supply.

The Japanese may be rich but that country is poor in terms of natural resources and food supply.

If a world cataclysm should occur and each nation's borders becomes closed (walang international trade and each country has to be self-reliant), patay na ang Japan.

What good are your factories if you don't have the raw materials to use?

In terms of food supply, rice lang and a maybe a few items self reliant ang Japan. Rice is considered a strategic commodity by the Japanese government. A kilo of rice costs around 200 pesos/kilo. If you go to a Japanese supermarket, you'll see fruits, fish/sea food from the Philippines and other ASEAN countries, meat products from the USA/Australia, etc.
