Globe Telecommunications, Inc. and Smart Communications, Inc. cited in SuperBrands under the mobile service provider category.
Finding the right brand is somewhat puzzling, but when 6,000 consumers across Asia disclose their recommendation, you have just got to take their word for it.
On its seventh year, the Reader’s Digest SuperBrands Survey shows brands that Asians patronize.
With the assistance of international media research group Nielsen Media Research, Reader’s Digest asked consumers from six markets -- the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan -- of their preferences in 42 categories of products and services.
There were 1,000 respondents in each market, half of whom are subscribers that answered through questionnaire, and the other half through telephone interviews.
Quality, value, strong image, trustworthiness, and understanding of customer needs were the factors for which the brand names were ranked.
In the Philippines 94 names were SuperBrands awardees -- 74 gold and 20 platinum -- which proved that local brands are competitive and are at par with international competitors.
Platinum winners are brands that are ranked three times higher than the rest, while gold winners belong to the top two or top three in a category.
Wilkins, Absolute, Aqua, and Viva were the winners from the water/mineral water category. Baguio Oil and Minola were cooking oil SuperBrands, while two-time Platinum winner San Miguel Beer remains unrivalled.
Asians have trusted office equipment category winner Canon, Nokia for mobile/cellphone, Coca-Cola for soft drink and Sony for liquid crystal display/plasma television, compact disc/minidisc/digital video disc player, home theater projector and video camera categories. Canon, Nokia, Coca-Cola and Sony have achieved Platinum status.
The new categories -- water purifier, vitamin supplement, household hygiene and anti-bacteria products, mobile service provider, hair dye and home theater projector indicated the changing lifestyles of Asians.
The new winners include Globe Telecommunications, Inc. and Smart Communications, Inc. for mobile service provider, Bigen and Wella for hair dye, and Sony and JVC for home theater projector.
BIC Ballpen, Dusit Hotel Nikko, Equitable-PCI Bank, Insular Life and Gatorade join the ranks of other SuperBrand winners.
The survey results are published in the May issue of Reader’s Digest Asia and in the website (superbrands.com).Last edited by silver_corolla; May 6th, 2005 at 03:32 PM.
