    A skyscraper under construction just collapsed like a rug was pulled underneath it. Very reminiscent of the 9/11 twin towers.

    That must be the Ruby Tower which collapsed during a strong earthquake in '68.

    The thing about the Ruby Tower was it was actually already a condemned building. The actual earthquake struck Casiguran, Aurora. Only the Ruby Tower collapsed in Manila.

    looking back,
    there was controversy about the ruby towers construction at that time.
    not sure if being in chinatown or being a (non?)-chinese had anything to do with it.
    but i think government started looking at the building code at that time, or lack thereof.

    i woke up early morning because of the earthquake, but went back to sleep.
    when i woke up at the scheduled time, however, there was much talk over the radio, about this building collapse in chinatown.
