Interior Design po.
But i'm doing IT stuff and business now. I guess it's just a phase. I discovered the joy in multiplying talents (Parable of Talents). hehe
Yep. Mahirap nga to be a REAL top school. Sa laki pa lang ng perang kakailanganin malabo na. Government nga natin di makakabili ng super-computer o particle accelerator eh school pa? And we have yet to be able to build our own engine!
Kaya ina-advocate ko na mag-concentrate tayo sa most kesa sa top. It's probably worthwhile to send our true geniuses abroad anyway. If we work on elevating the non-geniuses, we can have a much improved standard of living. A country cannot be wealthy without a robust middle class, after all.
It's going to be difficult, judging from most of the others here who seem more keen on tooting their own school's horn. But I'm still hopeful because I've come from there, though quite a while ago.

Mura pa rin yun compared to Ateneo, DLSU and UST.
Mura pa rin for Premiere Education.
Unfortunately, that's quite true.
UP has no other choice, Govt wouldn't give more funding (and there's Kiko Pangilinan who wants complete scrapping of funding to UP by the Govt), Protesters would rather not have UP Lands rented out (which could have offset this increase), no more to go to but increase the tuition.
I'm also from Peyups, (UP Manila) 88-06933. Nung pumasok ako in '88, less than 1k lang binayaran ko as tuition, all-in. In '89, they started implementing STFAP. Andaming nag-rally, I applied for Bracket 5, pero na-Bracket 9 ako. (Which is weird, since yung older brother na nasa UPLB, Bracket 7!) OK lang, since my parents and I saw the wisdom and logic behind STFAP.
Kaya nga nagtataka ako, bakit nagra-rally yung mga UP students. Those who have more in life, should pay full tuition (which is a whole lot less compared to private schools). If you're less fortunate, libre tuition mo, and kung Bracket 1 to 4 ka, you even have a monthly stipend! They can't expect 100% govt. subsidy, that would be wishful thinking. My God, since 1989, walang tuition increase sa UP! Wake up and smell the coffee, andami nang mayayamang estudyante sa UP, they should be made to bear the full cost of education. Para na rin ma-upgrade yung ibang buildings at classrooms sa Peyups, at madagdagan sweldo ng faculty and non-teaching personnel (dapat ma-exclude na rin sila sa SSL)
When I entered in 1988, only a few classrooms sa CAS UP Manila were airconditioned. When I graduated in 94, halos lahat aircon na, pati yung reading rooms sa CAS library, tapos na-renovate yung Little Theater. That is where our money went, put to good use. I hope the same scenario exists today, haven't been to my alma mater for quite sometime
Naalala ko yang STFAP na yan nung 1989, napasama ako sa bracket 7 (7,500 /sem) sa UP Manila, lipat akong PLM libre! O di ba!![]()
