Sounds like a euphemism for Mazda's awful resale value. [emoji58]

Resale value is just as valid a requirement for car buyers as driving dynamics. Same with reliability and availability of cheap parts outside the dealership. These may not be exciting things, but are nonetheless important if you're practical about what cars you buy.

The Mazda 3 isn't the ultimate compact. It definitely scores high in terms of handling, but it's nowhere as comfortable as an Altis for long drives with 5 on board. I was supposed to bring my Mazda to Baler last weekend. But when I found out I'd have 4 passengers, I opted for the Altis. Legroom and elbow room is just much better. The SkyActiv 3 isn't much roomier than the gen1 either.

One can compensate for the Altis' handling disadvantage on corners, but there's nothing you can do with subcompact-levels of rear passenger room.

Not saying the Mazda isn't a great car, just that it's not exactly head and shoulders above other cars in its class.

There's no perfect car. Individuality simply makes that impossible.
What matters here is happiness with purchase. I'm pretty sure you are w/ yours, jut sir....as I am with mine. Futile for firm believers of respective personal choices to be swaying 1 another, really. It's not even about pride, at least not on this side....
    It's individuality.....& I respect yours.
If I could only be classified under the typical car buyer where practicality sits on top of buying requisites, I would've made the typical choice away from mine now.....but my eccentricities, love for that drive, & passion for DIY tinkering simply dictate differently.

Yup. Bottom line, to each his own. Kung saan ka masaya, suportahan ta ka.

Exactly. Car talk shouldn't be like politics nor religion. After all, we get to share w/ & learn from 1 another.

sir jut703, night and day difference in terms of ride comfort?
i was so set in getting another 3 until i've traveled from south to north crossing Edsa last week

i'm quite okay with the bumpy ride pero naawa ako sa 6 month old baby ko na sobrang natagtag sa byahe, from Magallanes to Balintawak, and i'm on stock 16 inch mags and tires

could you share the best vehicle you've tried in absorbing bumps on rough paved roads, sedan or suv?

    TIA!

In terms of comfort, mas matagtag ang Mazda 3 sa Altis, but not night and day. Ang mas significant na difference is space - sa Altis kahit tatlong rear passengers nakadekwatro, maluwag pa rin. Layo ng rear legroom ng Altis sa Mazda 3.

Best vehicle I've driven for imperfect roads? LC200.

    Thanks a lot sir Jut!
I think i really have to get an SUV to attain a certain comfort requirement

Land Cruiser is definitely out of budget. Currently looking at MU-X, comfy daw according to my officemate, pangit lang daw ng handling

    sorry sobrang OT ako

Nice rides you got there sir. Your 3 looks so pristine for a 10 year old car

Kung comfort habol mo I don't think a pickup-based SUV is your best option. A comfort-oriented CUV like the CR-V, X-Trail or RAV4 would be better.

Thanks for the compliment. The objective is to make the 3 run as smoothly as a brand new car. Takes a bit of effort to get it to perfect running condition though. 😊

thanks sir sa feedback, and pardon my ignorance. The only non-sedan vehicle i've driven to date was an Avanza, and the experience was not so good

will definitely look into those CUVs you've listed

    Anyway, goodluck on your project!
I hope my 3 would still look that fresh after 8 more years of abuse

Toyota Avanza does not have a comfortable suspension, try the Suzuki Ertiga, Honda CR-V or Toyota Innova.

You just revived a post from 2004. An 11-year old post. Do you still sell first gen Mazda 3s?

Next time, when making a hard sell on a forum, try to target the right thread and people. [emoji16]

    Currently considering CX-5 > CRV > Escape

haven't had a chance to do test drive yet though, but i'll most likely go Japanese

anyway para di masyadong OT. my 2nd gen 2.5 years ago.. place already changed a lot, the ride remained the same.. hehe
