I don't want to sound like i'm creating trouble or anything, but maybe those who already have their CX-7's can help those who don't have one yet by bringing issues like these up with their dealers.

I wouldn't be surprised if the dealers (and maybe even the manufacturer) think that there are only a few people being affected by this, and are sweeping the issue under the rug. But if more and more people bring up these issues with the dealers then hopefully it will bring about some kind of change.

Maybe they would acknowledge it and tell us how they intent to address it.

At the very least it should make them more aware of the negative publicity going around, not to mention the lost sales. From what I've read in this forum so far, there are at least three people who have already decided it was not worth the hassle and have purchased another vehicle instead. That's not counting two of my officemates who were also planning on getting a CX-7, but after hearing about my travails, one went to hyundai and the other to honda instead.

I think the Mazda Hiroshima plant has problems in meeting the high volume demand of 2010 CX-7 elsewhere in the world including the Southeast Asian market. And maybe for them it's better to assure quality built vehicles than meeting consumer high demand but with low quality. They don't want to follow the footsteps of Toyota now with embarrassing quality problems.

In the case of Hyundai, which is currently the World's 4th largest carmaker, has larger assets compared with Mazda and they can easily manage meeting high consumer demands of their new vehicles
    including the 2010 Tucson.

I think it's true that the Mazda plant in Japan is having a hard time meeting the demands for the CX7. My unit came without foglamps, I was told that the plant ran out of parts for the foglamps and they already need to ship out the vehicles to their dealers worldwide so they just put on a cover where the foglamps were supposed to be installed.

My foglamps arrived and were installed around 3 weeks after I got my unit.

Thanks for the idea, I checked mazda's global website and found the "Mazda Production and Sales Results for January 2010" <http://www.mazda.com/publicity/results/2010/201002/100223_product.html>

    I quote the relevant parts:

    I.Production
    1. Domestic Production
Mazda’s total domestic production volume in January 2010 increased for the second consecutive month, growing 122.6% compared to January 2009 due to increased production of passenger vehicles.

    2. Overseas Production
Posting a year-on-year increase for the eighth consecutive month, Mazda’s overseas production volume in January 2010 improved 97.4% on January 2009, reflecting healthy production of passenger vehicles.

    III. Exports
Mazda’s export volume in January 2010 increased for the second consecutive month, growing 170.5% compared to January 2009 due to increased shipments of passenger vehicles.

What's up with that if a car is lady-driven? What's up with that silly grin? I've seen a lot of lady-driven Foresters, would that mean that the Subaru Forester is girl-specific or a "girl's car" as well?

Men & women can drive any car they want, it's just a matter of choice which car they want to have.

bro don't be mad, i wasn't bashing on the cx-7. i'm actually a fan of the cx-7, it's just that out here in the states sa dami ng nakita ko na cx-7 siguro wala pa sa 10 ang nakita ko na male driver. sinasabi ko lang na ladies car sya dito parang yung volkswagen beetle, prius, scion tc mostly lady ang driver.

+1 on this. the line between "men" and "women" cars are blurred already

heck, i thought that the GU Patrol was a man's car until i saw one being driven by a lady, nyahahahaha

i have even seen land cruisers, monteros, fortuners, sta fes and pick ups being driven by girls

I agree. I have friend from Mazda Philippines and was told that the problem is in Mazda Japan. Ensuring the built quality of the units may be the main reason for the delay in shipments, thus, bringing about frustrated customers like me.

I don't think the dealers are to be blamed for this since if you're in sales who obviously wouldn't want to sell and offer you a unit in the first place? I completely understand why my dealer (quezon ave. branch) couldn't give me a specific delivery date. I didn't have to bother them much since all i would be getting are just non-sense and frustrating info's. However, i realized that waiting indefinitely might just create further issues since my work is heavily dependent of field work so i had no choice but to settle for my 2nd favorite vehicle in the market today, which is the new Tucson.

Hehe, easy lang dude. Sa states yata ganyan norm. Usually, Men will get the bigger vehicles: F250 or Hemi-powered Ram and then the wives get the CUV. Dito sa Pinas kasi, driving around in a big-ass Suburban is a little more difficult. Kaya CUV is as big as we'll go without too much sacrifice on driving ease and fuel consumption.

Heck, if it's any consolation, the new Tucson me and my wife just bought is marketed as a Sexy Utility Vehicle. How's that for a girly CUV. Hehe.. we now call her Amanda.

By the way, I'm in this thread as my dad (having been envious of our new Tucson) would like to replace his aging Rav4. I'm telling him to get a a CX7, a Montero or the new Sportage (when it comes out).

Any idea when the CX7 supply normalizes? That's the first choice i'm trying to influence him into.

My first choice was the CX7 but until now, my agent in Quezon ave. branch has not updated me. I reserved 1st week of December but still no word so i decided to just get this tucson. I will be going to that dealership to make a refund of my deposit.

Im not the type who would continue to pursue the uncertain waiting time and being an impulse buyer that i am, i think i made a good choice of settling for the one that's available instead of waiting for something that might take longer than expected.
What I heard was that Mazda Quezon Ave. was negotiating with some people during that time and now has new owners. That may explain your situation since there is always some confusion when there is a change of "administration."

I think you missed my point. I'm not going to repeat the whole story (you can read it in page 16) but just say that there was, in fact, a unit that was promised to me by the sales manager since December. And when it was delivered to Mazda Greenhills last February, it was instead given to Mr. Pe, EVP of CATS (which also owns Mazda Greenhills). I believe that it was wrong for them to do that; more than the blatant abuse of power, it is the wrong way to treat a customer. That's why I am blaming the dealer. I should not be forced to settle for a second choice, I should be driving what should be my white CX-7 by now.

Yup - That's what you call a ***y Utility Vehicle right there! Saw, felt and got on one last week at Mazda Greenhills. It was absolutely elegant not to mention it's very sleek features! I would've love to have one but we just got our SUV which I am fairly pleased for barely a month now. Loaded sa features itong CX-9.

The wife readily agrees. I was considering a subaru impreza before (2.0 version), but was turned down by the higher powers.
