    Hi,

My wife and I were originally looking at Mobilio and BR-V as our first brand new car. We liked the idea of having a either a 3rd row option or a big space. No kids yet but hoping for one soon, and so we thought we'd plan ahead with the car choice.

However, one close look at the M3 (1.5) and we instantly fell in love. The equipment and trim was totally a class above the hondas we were looking at.

Now we're rationalizing that maybe we don't really need a 7-seater, haha!

But those who have kids, did you find the space of either the sedan or hatch limiting? Also with the 1.5, is it not underpowered if fully loaded?

My mind says that the bigger vehicle is the practical choice. But my heart definitely goes to the mazda. If I don't buy it now it will probably be years before i can buy a brand new car again.

BTW, I'm also a mountain biker and we have two cats, so we find ourselves loading all sorts of stuff (helmets, pet cages; bikes go to a trunk rack) in our current sedans and we survive naman. But several friends have mentioned that a baby will be a game changer and we will wish for a bigger car.

    Sorry for the nobela!

I have a 7 and a 2 yr old and I drive a 1.5 hatch. We just got home from my in-laws up north and my wife and I talked about needing a 7 seater coz the kids were kicking and pushing each other (my wife sits at the back with them, for our 2yr old). So we asked our 7yr old to sit in the front. I know it's not safe pero they wouldn't stop fighting talaga. Puno ang trunk ko with a full sized luggage and pasalubong from the in-laws who just got back from the States. With that said, sakto lang ang Mazda3 with 2 kids and 2 adults. It was a good thing I didn't bring a stroller or else it wouldn't be possible to fit the luggage as well (unless the trunk cover was not attached). I don't know how many kids you're planning but 2 is enough for the MZ3. Anything more, get a bigger one (suv). I don't always travel with my family and when I do, I admit it's abit cramped. But the fun in driving it makes up for it. Besides they're still kids. We'll get a bigger one soon as they're getting bigger too. 😁

I don't blame you and your wife for admiring the 3. When I got home to open the gate of the garage I couldn't help but admire the MZ3 even after owning it for almost 3yrs. 😁

It's always good to be practical but sometimes you just got to follow your heart so you don't feel/get buyer's remorse.😊

Our brother, go-to-guy, gave you an honest 1st hand ownership view. I second everything with emphasis on the HEART-following part.
On my 4th year of Mown3rship....zero regrets. If I were to choose fr today's choices? I'd still grab the same car.
    Good luck, sir!!!![emoji4]

I had the same dilemma since i have a 3yr old but after test driving the M3 with my wife, we immediately made the choice to get one.

We will get the unit hopefully by the end of October pa so i cant share any actual experience yet. But test driving it with the wife really made it easier for us to decide. [emoji106]

I'll be sure to share first hand experience in this thread after a few miles in. [emoji12]

    +1 here

To me, many things may be justified by perspective. If I may suggest, own the perspective of someone who would prefer to have "any" car vs. commuting with a baby in your arms

It has been 8 days into my Mown3rship (a V hatchback)! I wish to share what I've experienced so far, but consider this the first part in the meantime:

    1. My unit had 26.8 kilometers on the odometer when I got to hop in. My fiancee and I had to wait for hours to receive the unit -- fresh from the warehouse.

    2. We've both driven it on NLEX. It certainly has minimal NVH, maybe also because we've turned the infotainment unit on (bluetooth) to volume level 25. Side note: the Commander Control is something you'd think you don't need! When I drove my Forester to Laguna yesterday, I was looking for my M3's Commander Control! Haha!

    3. When I arrived home, I noticed it's wearing Bridgestone Turanzas. I thought the OEM tires are Toyos. I told jut703 I'm thinking twice about buying 2nd-hand 18s but with brand new R18s -- this is because I love the ride comfort!

    4. Since I arrived at night, I got to observe the lights. Headlights are white-yellowish, fog lights are clear white. It's good that there's a manual headlight level adjustment.

    5. I absolutely love the M3's fuel economy app! I'll be knowing its accuracy maybe later if I get to refuel. I might not because I have a week-long Taiwan trip.

This is all for now para di mahaba, hehe. I'll post my other observations when I find time

I hope this helps prospective buyers out there.

    Very keen & technical![emoji851]
The BN is refined compared to our leaner pre-FL BM. Having the 1.5, I subscribe to Mazda's bias towards lightening than carrying sound deadening's dead weight. Engine roar & NVH have always been music to my ears.[emoji16]

    He taught me well

I tried the sport mode for a few seconds during our NLEX drive last Saturday. Oh yes, the roar! I noticed its roar is angrier than the Forester's... the RPM surged to 4,000!

The Mazda 3 really has the best sounding exhaust out of all the current generation of compact cars I've driven. 👍

Yep, the roar of the Mazda3 exhaust is quite distinctive. Even if the Mazda6 is faster, it is not as rowdy as the Mazda3.

Why limit yourself to 4k rpm and just a few seconds of Sport mode? Floor it and hit 6k rpm. I am always on Sport mode when I'm on the expressway. With the FXT, I'd even put into on Sport# on open stretches.

Maybe I don't have sports mode so I find the manual mode very challenging. Though I may still prefer manual over sports mode just for the powerband's sake.

I ignore the sport mode & enjoy the manual better, too sir. Old dogs & new tricks can't mix.[emoji16]
