Sales figures & relative values sometimes don't make sense. I recall the mid90's when the gen2 Pajeros outsold the pricier LC80s here. We know which was better of the 2.

In Oz, price-driven. It chose the uphill path, markets never like hikes. Ours, no different.

What's the big idea of changing the font?!?

I can't imagine the same on Mazda 6! If I may use a kind word for it, it looks ridiculous.

Pajeros were also cheaper than LCs then, as they are now. There were no cheaper midsize SUV options, so the Pajero and Patrol were basically the entry level choices (no, the Terrano doesn't count).

It does look more amateur than the fonts of previous Mazda 3s. In my world, fonts make a very big difference in presentation and aesthetics.

You are very kind for using that term, amateur. It really looks cheap, particularly that SKYACTIV sticker.

I didn't get what those guys were saying on this forum until I have seen it.

If I wasn't aware of the previous design, then perhaps I won't notice it. Anyways, removing the badge is the solution for it.

Of course, I won't be buying one so this isn't an issue for me.

I recall those days. The gen2 Pajero wasn't only cheaper, it had features never before seen on any of the locally distributed utes. SuperSelect shift-on-fly 4x4. Everything was fresh except the engine. Mitsubishi gave Ph the 4D56, instead of the 4M40.
The 80 was the old basic truck...manual diff lock, nothing new. The headunit was a doubleDIN w/ a cassette player. Again, basic, classic or typical Toyota.
The Safari was a cruiser copy, a much fuglier toad version, though.
All that, one laughed at the P400k or so difference between the LC & the Pajero. This was the 90s before the crash when our currency held midtwennies to the greenback. 400k was a significant amount.
Still, last laugh came from the small LC crowd....Reliability sold cars & held value. The ute market was initially drawn & blinded by both price/feature diff....slow to appreciate the 80's soul & real value. Those who missed out went for the 100s. Them new 100s did not draw 80 owners. Both had the same engine, the 100 ditched the rigid front axle, which everyone loved, for a beefed up Torsion. (Toyota did submit to the clamor with the 105 that never officially reached our shores).
See the parallels? Same engine, suspension revisions, refinements....Much like the 100 to 80ers, the BM/BNs owners may not be the BP's market....the latter is much pricier everywhere.
And... it doesn't have anything to do w/ the new FONT. Me? Old or new, I'd debadge anyway.[emoji16]

Ang katapat ng Pajero, yung Prado. Not the LC. Same as today.
