Warranty for Delkor mazda istop battery is only 15 months, is this normal for EFB batteries? I think it's too short or baka nasanay lang ako sa 21 month warranty ng Motolite

The Yusana enhanced flooded battery for istop system comes with a 2 year warranty. You cam buy it from the Mazda dealership.

Ang mahal kasi, *Php14k plus Php2,500 (or 1,500) for the reprogramming of the istop feature

I replaced the battery on my own. The i-Stop indicator kept on flashing and there was a warning about malfunction.

I drove it for two hours and after that, i-Stop is now running fine. Anyways, I don't use i-Stop so I wasn't bothered with the warning.

At least, I didn't pay for this so called "programming".

And yes, that battery is expensive. The reason why I bought CTEK is to "extend" battery life.

You can opt out from the additional charges for istop reset/reprogramming by installing the battery by yourself.

I posted a guide a few weeks ago at the 2017 Mazda 3 forum on how to do this. You might want to check it out. Basically you just need to ensure that the ecu power is supplied while removing the old battery (eg connect battery terminals with a portable battery jumpstarter kit). This is to ensure that the istop runtime data will not be lost after removing the old battery.

There's also a diy guide on reprogramming the istop feature. Unsure if that will really work.

Some claimed that there's no need to do these, istop will just work as usual after replacing the battery (like what happened with Archerfish).

I didn't know that you need to reprogram the I-stop after changing the battery, when Mazda China replaced my battery, parang wala naman silang nireprogram, also, pag uuwi ako ng pinas, I always disconnect my bateery negative terminal, wala naman error lumalabas pagkabit ko ulit.

I wonder what will happen if you use the ordinary type of battery? This reminds me, I don't know exactly what battery I installed. It doesn't have any stickers but I know it's from Motolite.

Travs posted pics of some articles describing potential issues with using a non-EFB with istop. Possible issues can be with damaging some of the istop electronic components.

But I reckon such issue can happen only when using istop. For those who are not activating it, perhaps an ordinary battery would do?

Since my car is still under warranty, I replaced my M3's battery with Yusana EFB. Perhaps I'll try an ordinary motolite battery after my car's warranty expires.

From the manufacturers perspective.. They shouldnt be bothered just because the battery dies.
    That's just bad product tbh.
