December 25th, 2022 12:42 PM #4Regarding the Innova, per my first hand experience with a gen 1 that came with stock Bridgestones (if memory serves me right) . I think it was around when ours was 3 (max 4 years old), was parking the Innova in makati street parking, hit the sidewalk curb and pop it went too. So, speed wasn't the issue in that as i wasn't even moving at 5kph as i was already finalizing my position to parallel park. Hehe
First time it ever happened to me. And i ain't no expert, I've curbed my fair share of tire sidewalls through the yeara and it is the only instance I've ever blown up a tire because of hitting the sidewalk... At crawling speed.
Memory is hazy if it was stock birdgestones. Can't recall manufacture code of the tire to determine age anymore. But it was maybe around 2007 period maybe, latest 2008. But Innova was acquired suring the first year gen 1 was launched here in our shores.

December 25th, 2022 06:10 PM #5I don't think we have a local distributor for Nokian tires, but they are well-known in the EU for snow/winter tires.
They also have a warranty specific to sidewall damage:

December 26th, 2022 02:15 PM #8If overinflated, I am also curious what PSI it was set at?
For Gas Stations, at least in the one I frequent, max psi it can charge at is 45psi max. I don't know if other gas stations have also set max pressure close to that. And from dealer, when it comes to crossovers and sedans, per experience, they are usually turned over at 50psi (overinflated from dealer/casa) after purchase.
On the one when I experienced a blowout on touching the sidewalk as I was adjusting my parking, I wasn't overinflated in that situation. hehe!

December 26th, 2022 10:25 PM #9I'm inclined to think it might have been under inflated rather than over. That sort of damage happens when the sidewall is completely pinched and the rim essentially touches the gutter.
It happened to TFLtruck when they were reviewing their new Land Rover Discovery: They were aired down and hit a rock shelf. The low tire pressure caused the sidewall to completely buckle, pinching it between rim and rock. After two flats they had to abandon their brand new Land Rover Discovery on the trail
This video starts with a recap that goes straight to their incidents with the Discovery:

December 28th, 2022 09:30 AM #10Its over inflated not under.
The tire shop might have mistakenly over pressurize the tires.
