A wastegate is what regulates boost pressure. Otherwise overboost can destroy the turbo and the engine. Almost all turbos regulate boost pressure via a wastegate.

Dalawa lang ba ang available variants ng Sportage dito sa Phils? 4x4 CRDi at 4x2 Gas lang? How much yung each of the variants of the Sportage? Thanks!
P.S. Pa-post na rin ng specs ng CRDi.
To: Strutot & Fore! and other sportage owners
Any improvements sa FC ng sportage nyo? Im really considering to get one pero malaking consideration sa akin ang fuel consumption. I would appreciate it if you could post new infos regarding your FCs. Thanks.
First of all, i would like to thank the all members whose positive comments regarding the Kia Sportage, made me decide on buying my first SUV.
My wife's 1st choice was the Tucson. I showed her the Sportage. Sabi niya mas maganda nga ang Sportage, but she's undecided because of the resale value of the Kia. I managed to convince her to change her mind with the the ff. arguments.
1. Tucson CRDi Automatic 4x2- Php 1,078.00 -
after adding LTO and insurance and undercoat - Php 1,020,000.00
Sportage CRDi Automatic with 4WD, ABS,w/ free undercoat LTO and Insurance - Php 1,020,000.00
Considering that both cars are almost the same in interior and engine, the 4 wd and the ABS were the clincher
2. Our 1st car, a Toyota hi-lux 96 pick up w/c we sold for Php 150,000.00 to add to the dp of our new car, was 11 yrs. old. Meaning hindi ako mabilis magbenta ng sasakyan. Resale value is not much of a problem with me.
3. Though the Tucson has a longer warranty - 5 yrs compared to 3 yrs for the Sportage. Ok na sa akin yun.
As for my experience driving the car? Parang kotse ang riding comfort, mabilis.
Sarap mag drive. Sarap mamasyal. Sarap magyabang. Comments from friends and acquaintances - "Ganda pala ng Sportage or okey na pala ang Kia ngayon".
Me, my wife and my kids truly love it. Thanks to all.
congrats sir korean cars are indeed good nowadays if not bias to the brand newer models are goods as jap cars... wala bang pics...hope to hear the fc of your sportage soon...
kumusta na mga Sportage CRDIs niyo?
Ano mga items for improvement sa kanya?
As for my crdi, Fuel Consumption on my first 750 kms, which includes city driving in Tarlac, break in driving on the Subic Clark Tarlac Expressway and round trip to Manila, i manage to get 10 km/liter.
Top Speed on the expressway was 150 km/hr( kasama kasi pamilya ko kaya di ko sinagad - patikim lang sa engine then back to break in driving.) Accelaration from 90 to 150 km is pretty fast though, nararamdaman mo talaga ang bilis ng accelaration. No vibrations. Quiet ang engine, maganda rin ang pag reduce ng noise from the interior of the car.
By the way - the 4wd variant comes with a clarion player unlike the gas which has a jbl player. The sound coming from the speakers are pretty good. If configured, para kang naka subwoofer. You can really feel the thumping and hear the very low frequency range. Wish ko lang sana 6 speakers instead of 4 ang installed. I want to hear a bit more from the high frequency. Was thinkin of adding some tweeters kaya lang baka ma void ang warranty sa sound system. Anyway very clean naman ang mid range and low frequency range.
I'll be posting more in the days to come to see if there's an improvement on the mileage.
P.S. After the first 750 k, i love the car even more.
you don't need to add tweeters to have a good high freq sound, nero audio software could do that you can even add echo for a home theater like sound coming from your 4 speakers...doing so you may need to do trial and error at first time to avoid sound distortion...
wala bang pics exterior/interior...
