July 4th, 2012 02:34 PM #872naku sir walang ginawa ang Casa, gumanda FC ko dahil siguro s break in, kaka 1st PMS ko lang ng June (4,300kms 5months). sabi kasi 7500kms or 4months whichever comes first, pero ok lang naman pala kahit lampas 4months. KIA pampanga ko nakuha unit ko,KIA north Edsa ako nag PMS (parehas kasi LAUS group kaya Free 1st PMS according to them) i cant recommend KIA North Edsa mahal maningil 4,500 quote sakin, kaya pinakaltas ko yung mga alam kong di naman kailangan sa 1st PMS,kya naging 3,400+ nalang.
KIA RIO Sedan 1.4. I suggest sir sundin mo break-in na sinasabi sa Manual.

July 4th, 2012 08:35 PM #874Thanks for the quick reply sir. Tanong lang po, Manual or A/T yong sa yo?
Assuming A/T, excited ako ma-achieve yong fc mo if ever it's possible. That's almost twice what I'm having now! So far, it's hard to believe my fc will achieve a dramatic 70% improvement like at the level your having now and based on previous brand new vehicles from Nissan, Toyota to Chevy wala pa akong na experience na ganyan kalaki after break-in. The most is 20% fc and a little more peak power. Even adding performance chips the improvement will only be an additional of about 20% tops.
Nevertheless, I look forward to achieving your numbers, kahit around 8km/L nalang happy na ako. Kia's slogan: "the power to surprise" already hit me, the bad fc that is! I hope it will surprise me with a complete turn around any time soon after PMS check-up.
By the way, my Casa PMS advisory: 1st 1k = PMS check-up (probably change fuel & oil filters); next is every 7,500k mark on ODO or 6-months whichever comes first.

July 5th, 2012 09:38 AM #875i bought my unit from KIA Ortigas thru my SA sa KIA Marilao kc alang HB graphite available sa kanila that time. Right now wla pko sa 1st PMS. i just followed what the manual said - like during break in stage the ideal variable speed is between 2K-4K rpm, so naihahataw ko din cya ng 100 - 130kph on hway. first observation ko is malakas tlg fc nya pag idle ska during the first 1000km, medyo late reaction nya when you step on the gas pedal, ung parang kapos sa arangkada, pero right now nagimprove n un. saka i regularly check my tire pressure on a weekly basis - 32psi ang TP ko. eco on function all the time. 23C ang ambient temp ko lagi. overall, im happy with Rio HB. pangit lang talaga ung busina nya! d bagay sa porma! hehe!
sana magimprove ung syo sir cyberian.

July 5th, 2012 09:52 AM #876Newbie here..
I have one question on my Rio Sedan M/T..
I purchased this one last April here in CDO and so far my FC is quite good..
My only concern is that when I encounter some sudden humps in the road, I hear some vibrating noise under the steering wheel or above the pedals..
Anyone of you encountered this kind of problem?
I'm planning to go to the casa this weekend to have this checked to their technician/mechanic..
Should I claim for warranty if they find something wrong in my car? e.g. loose cables, untightened modules, loose bolts, etc..
Hope you could help me with this one cause the noise is very irritating considering that this is brand new..

July 5th, 2012 11:27 AM #877KIA RIO 2012 1.4 manual 6speed po sakin, 8kms/L po pag heavy traffic. tapos kung super heavy traffic like 30kms tatakbuhin mo ng 2hours babagsak pa yan ng 5-6kms/L, mejo malakas sa gas pag heavy traffic. pero pag normal stop and go and light to moderate 10kms/L.
tama po si RHbacker - I also followed what the manual said about the break-in period.

July 5th, 2012 02:37 PM #878my ex mt somewhat improved its fc from 5-6km/l to 6-7km/l last week. what is surprising was that i changed my driving style from low rev to high rev. i change gear almost 2k rpm now instead of 1.5k rpm before.
regarding fc computation, we should all establish fixed variables to get accurate readings. it is unfair to blame the engine for heavy traffic, terrain, driver's habit, kilometers covered, etc, etc. what is constant here is time and rpm. what any serious car owner should do is to first determine at what rpm he/she wants to test the fc of the car. second, determine the speed generated at that rpm in 6th gear and compute the distance covered at that speed for an hour. third, have a full tank. fourth, run the car's engine at the desired rpm while parked for 15min or 30min or an hour if desired.. fifth, have it full tanked then compute manually.
if you use 6th gear, that will be your maximum efficiency rating.
if you use 1st gear, that will be your worst effiency rating. if you get worse result than this, something is wrong with your engine.

July 5th, 2012 09:07 PM #879Thanks sir RHbacker for the reply. Your similar positive feedback like everyone else is giving me hope on my bad fc situation. I am just surprised to encounter such a terrible fc coming from a subcompact car if I compare it with the other bnew but bigger vehicles I used to drive. I also have a daily regular routine kaya madali ko ma-compare yong fc ng Rio5 sa other previous vehicles. Bukas I am anticipating my 4th full tank to be empty and it's not doing good in my observation. Right now the ODO traveled is 152km at slightly below 1/4 on the fuel gauge. If I can make it to 190km bukas then in my estimate based on 34.34L of XCS, it would be around 5.5km/L. Not very encouraging.
You are right, pangit yong busina kasi isa lang at maliit pa so I had mine replaced with Hella Germany.

July 5th, 2012 09:52 PM #880Sir denpacs, welcome kababayan!
May I ask your present average city fc and normal routes? Mine is Nazareth--St. Mary's School (Mandomol) (3x a day Mon-Fri)--and Divisoria XU area lang with few side trips to Kitkai, SM and Ororama Cogon areas once in a while during the week and my average fc is below 6km/L straight for the last 4 full tanks. I don't get stuck sa traffic long enough, usually 5 minutes tops lang because I choose my routes and time of day well.
I have not observed such vibration as you have described but I did hear a lot of front suspension rattles on the first 3 days from delivery kasi the casa had the tires inflated to 57 front 52 rear, way above the maximum limit of the tire! Buti nalang hindi nag explode sa potholes. The problem was brought to a tolerable level after bringing down the pressure to the factory recommended settings of 32psi. Tolerable level because it's a 17" 45 series tires, which is harder on the suspensions. It is still noisy to me compared to the Chevy Optra with a 50 series or the Honda Jazz of my brother with a 16" 45 series tires kaya slow down ako especially on any road with rough or large and exposed pebble surfaces including on bridges road gaps like sa Carmen Bridge. Rio5 front suspensions to me is just not tight and well insulated. I wonder what it will be like after a couple of years down the road. BTW, the 2004 Optra's front suspensions are still tight and no rattles even at 110K mileage, orig pa rin lahat and no suspension repairs or parts replacement, ever!
Under chassis including mechanical parts are under warranty especially at this early of wear and tear, which is abnormal and premature, I think. Adjustment or tightening/correction lang siguro na sya sir.
FYI, my Kia SA is Ian.
Lol daig pa mismo ng ford na may surplus parts mula sa mga katay o parts-out na units kahit papano.
