Really quite possible the cure to my misery is an ECU re-programing. Ang bagal bagal umakyat kung naka A/T, underpowered talaga at nahihirapan ako mag overtake. I am forced to engaged the manual mode and even this I need to build enough momentum to engage the next gear. The engine is noisy, emitting a lot of growl. Pati misis ko worried about the engine noise kahit nasa 2000 rpm lang and accelerating.
In the Optra, Lancer GLi, Spark, Corollas, Sentra, Jazz and Honda City, when I accelerate from the 1st to the 2nd gear in a hurry I can actually feel my back pressing on the seat. I don't felt it on the Rio5. Just like driving the Starex and Pajero 2500 turbos, really feels like a diesel than a gasoline engine to me. Sad, if my fc is this bad at least it should give me a zoom-zoom performance. I hope Kia get it fix on my 1st PMS.

Tama si weisshorn, baka katulad nung problema ni bratski on his hyundai accent. Nasundan ko rin yung thread na iyon. Having the same engine platform, this is a strong possibility. If I may suggest, do not wait for the first PMS. Irefer mo na sa dealer for action. Think you have enough data to say that there is something wrong with the car. You have never mentioned the sluggishness before, so that might be it, low power due to incompatible engine tuning to fuel available here.

July 2nd, 2012 09:23 PM #864Thanks sir timo07 & sir weisshorn, I'll press Kia on this point. The screwed timing probably the reason I pressed more on the gas pedal for more power since the engine lagged a lot. I am waiting for Kia SA to call me when to have the unit checked, he's still securing a car service to swap with my car while it's in their shop. Sabi nila they need a total of 3 days daw to check and test the car.
*renzo_d10: I just saw the Mazda3 HB and boy, it's big and a beauty. Maliit lang horsepower, yong 1.6L pareho lang sa Rio5. Suzuki Swift 1.4A/T fc sabi ng Sales Agent nasa 14km/L actual city (cagayan de oro) and that's the minimum according to customers' feed backs. I doubted it but the SA is willing to have their unit tested for fc purposes, like what mazda offered. I tested the Chevy Orlando before and was impressed with the fc at 9.2km/L. I actually had a P.O. for it before I cancelled it in favor of Rio5 as the replacement for the Starex dahil mas practical sa City and easy to park. I love the Rio5 styling naman including the interior design, features, material and fit and finish except the fc. There's still chance for an improvement... hopefully after check-up.

July 3rd, 2012 01:59 PM #865Hi guys. I'm a newbie here in tsikot but been following your threads since June. Bought a Rio5 HB last April. Got an average fc of 7.43km/l for the first 1000km, manual computation, combined city and hway driving. It started to improve since then. Right now my odo is at 2958 and my ave fc is at 9.21km/l. Use to bring my HB to office 3x a week - bulacan-makati-bulacan. First PMS is 4 mos or 7500km - un ang sabi ng dealer from Ortigas. Is this true with other HB owners?

July 3rd, 2012 04:52 PM #866I don't consider the Rio HB underpowered anymore compared to our 2005 Honda City GD8 1.3 Liter, the 7-speed matic was it's selling point then and the worst if I may say amongst our cars at the time, worst fuel efficiency and worst when loaded with people or stuff as it can't even overtake a jeepney going to Tagaytay. the 1.3 City is only 84Hp / 88 PS. it achieved minimum 5 KM/L maximum when my cousin borrowed it reached was 12 Km/L all city driving.

July 4th, 2012 12:32 PM #869Sir jpabuel2003, I hope you can give me more details of your unit if you don't mind. Where you bought it and serviced, your Sales Agent and their contact number so I can have a basis to demand from my Kia Casa to have my unit fix with reference to your Casa para sila na ang mag usap kung paano na improved yong sa yo.
