June 19th, 2012 10:31 PM #763I bought my rio ex mt last april 17 sa kia pasig. excited kasi after 7 years of driving an suv, finally makakapag drive rin ako ng sedan. first time i rode it, sobrang sarap dalhin, ang tahimik ng makina kala mo di siya umaandar. fast forward june, may napansin ako na ingay sa makina sa may bandang passenger side. mejo naalarma ako kasi before i decided to buy the unit, bumibisita na ako dito sa tsikot forum. im very much aware sa maraming issue ng hyundai accent, which was actually my first choice because mas mura siya. during that time di pa kasi lumalabas ang 2012 kia rio. nung lumabas ang kia rio, sobrang nagandahan ako although i still had my reservations kasi accdng sa mga owners ng hyundai accent, parehas lang ang makina ng rio and accent so ibig sabihin prone din siya sa katok. tanong ko lang sa mga fellow rio owners, meron din ba kayo naririnig na ingay sa makina especially dun sa mga new rio models.im planning na dalhin ito sa casa sa saturday to have it check. pero gusto ko malaman sana kung normal ba ito sa mga fellow kia rio owners lalo na yung mga nakabili ng latest model. thanks.

Found this hehe
The engine in the new Rio LX is one of the smallest ones in its class: a 1248cc twin cam, 16-valve inline-4 that produces 87 horsepower and 120 Newton meters of torque. As a drive, there's a decent amount of power transferred to the road through a smooth 5-speed manual transmission. Don't expect much performance or perhaps challenging the previous gen Accent CRDI taxicabs on stoplight dashes, as the Rio is best kept at casual speeds for maximum fuel efficiency. Going by the multi-info computer, I was doing 10.2 kilometers per liter in the city (with moderate to heavy traffic) and 15.5 on the highway (light to moderate traffic, 80-100 cruising).

June 20th, 2012 09:37 PM #766FC report update- 2012 Kia Rio5/Pride HB 1.4 A/T:
.........................................FULL TANK 1........FULL TANK 2.........FULL TANK
...........................Date:......June 4, 2012........June 14, 2012.......June 20, 2012 (that's today)
............................Fuel:......Petron XCS..........Petron XCS..........Shell V-Power Nitro+
..........................Liters:......34.6L...... ............33.7L..................34.9L
(Trip Computer Display):
..........Distance to Empty:......476km...............492km............. .....501km
...........Distance traveled:......204.9km............194km........... ........N/A
.......................AVG F.C.:.....15.5L/100km.......17.0L/100km..........N/A
...........................................or 6.45km/L.........or 5.88km/L........N/A
(Manual Computation
.............Full Tank (Liter):.......34.60L..............33.7L.......... .........34.9L
.......Odometer (traveled):.......204.9km............194km........ ..........N/A
......................AVG F.C.:......5.92km/L...........5.76km/L...............N/A
So far, the second full tank yielded no improvement on my fc in full A/T mode. City driving=140kms (est.), highway=54kms (est.). The combined fc of 5.76KM/L at this moment is quite high and deplorable. I’m still halfway to the 1st PMS (1,000kms) though and I’m still hoping of reaching the supposed 8-9km/L city fc as declared by Kia Sales agents.
Even if my fc improves by 20% (est.), which normally does after break-in on my experiences with brand new Corollas (1.3 & 1.6L), Sentra 1.6L and Optra 1.6L, my Rio5 should get an improvement of at least 40% to reach the magic number of 8-9km/L. Those cars I mentioned had better fc figures than this Rio5. Hopefully, Kia will improve the fc after PMS as the SA promised to look into this matter.
This afternoon I’m using a full tank of Shell’s V-Power Nitro+ to see if this fuel yields better fc over the Petron XCS. I will also going to try the Petron’s counterpart- Blaze, soon after.

care to share fuel consumption and performance?
I have a Toyota Vios 1.5mt. I also experience slight engine knock 2x on the 2nd year then everytime dinala ko sa casa naayos naman agad. 2nd time i brought it di na bumalik. Difference lang siguro sa hyundai/kia service e hindi pa nila kabisado ang engine, whereas in toyota they can easily correct the problem.
Sana mag improve ang service ng hyundai at kia, sayang ganda pa naman ng lineup. I heard from on one of Hyundai insider that there are news that Hyundai Corp is planning to take over operations in Ph, sana matuloy para naman, hopefully, mag improve ang service dito.
