    Here's the picture of the punctured oil pan. Hindi pa ito mailift kasi closed pa ang casa at naka park lang dun.

    *sir Yapoy: medyo marami kasi akong sakay during that time kaya medyo bumaba pa ground clearance at sumusunod ako sa isang Ford Escape. Gabi na at hindi ko natantiya yung laki nung bato kasi bigla na lang bumulaga. Feeling ko kasi kaya nya dahil wala naman nangyari sa Escape (mas mataas nga kasi ang ground clearance nito).

    *sir Weisshorn: I will know the verdict tomorrow. Kung sakaling major overhaul ito (wag naman sana), baka nga grabe ang cost nito. Kung sakali ba aabot din kaya ng more than 75% ng insured value ang cost ng damaged engine at ideclare na lang nila na total loss? Pupunta rin ako sa insurance bukas after my visit to the casa, give the estimate, and hopefully, come up with a favorable decision on their part. Ang pagkaka alam ko kasi pasok ito as own damage dahil nakausap ko yung insurance adjuster ko dati (pero nalipat na kasi).

    Thanks guys for your time and opinion. I have been having sleepless nights lately kasi hindi ko rin alam kung ano ie expect ko. I'm worried about the cost (yes, malaki laki din malamang ang participation ko dito dahil sa 20% depreciation cost of new parts which will be added to my participation fee) and I'm not sure if I can get a good deal with my insurance. Sana hindi rin ako tagain ng casa.

    Sure that is covered with your compre insurance. Kapag kapit ang bearings nyan, sigurado total overhaul para ma check ang iba pang components likecamshaft bearings, piston & rings, liners to say a few. lahat ng parts that needs internal lubrication dapat ma-check & confirm na ok talaga. That is kung ako ang mag decide at gagawa ng makina. Pero kung wala naman seizure ang bearings & pistons eh laking swerte, pwede ka na maglulundag sa tuwa. Linis & new oil plus change oil fan lang ang kailangan. Your car will be again ready to run. I pray ganito sana. As to spare parts, talk to your casa na ikaw na lang ang mamili ng spare parts para makatipid other wise casa will kill you of component cost. All your spare parts needs is available to leading Hyundai Kia auto supplier stores here in Manila. This will shorten the waiting time of the needed parts. HTH

    Talk to them dahil pag casa ang nag source ng spare parts eh abutin ng siyam-siyam yan, mahal pa.

    Kaya namatay ang makina dahil 1. Bumaba ang oil level so nawalan ng suction ang oil pump which resulted to low oil pressure, low oil pressure then activated the engine shut down. Check the engine if you can rotate the crankshaft at least 2 revs manually, of course turning using the wrench in the front pulley lock bolt. Kung ok then you can proceed to drain/flush out the remaining oil & changed oil. 2. Seized con-rod & main bearings due to low oil pressure or no oil flow at all. In this case major overhaul is a must . That will make a hole in your pocket. HTH
    Just got the bad news today. It is number 2. Ayaw na umikot ng front lock pulley- an indication that something went terribly wrong. Casa said it will be a major overhaul. May possibility din na tinamaan ang turbo dahil tumakbo pa rin ang turbo kahit ubos na ang langis. Wala pa rin complete estimate dahil binabaklas pa lang yung buong makina pero hindi ito bababa ng mga100k.

    bad news nga... madami papalitan dyan.. total overhaul talaga... kung metal oil pan yan hindi yan basta mabubutas.. but modern engines need to be light weight hence for the aluminum oil pan... sayang at least nakita mo na matibay talaga ang carens..

    OUCHHH!!! So sad brother.
    Sana kung may available na surplus engine eh mas matipid pa kesa mag total rebuild ng makina. Change crankshaft is a major overhaul cost, sana pwede pa machine grinding kung pasok pa ang available undersize bearing shells. Pag hindi....araay. magkano kaya ang new crankshaft nyan.

    wala kang insurance? hopefully meron. this illustrates how important it is to be comprehensively insured.

    tanong lang mga fellow carens owners, how much is the resale value of our car? mine is a 2008 LX MT with almost 50k mileage. I asked from a KIA dealer because I was thinking of buying a new sorento and giving the trade in value as downpayment. sabi sa akin mga 300k daw (gasp!!). sabi ko, ANO??? mismong casa ganyan kababa ang tingin sa sarling produkto?

    it was really such a downer. I bought the carens way back in 2008 June. Ever since, it has not given any problems aside from the uneven front tire wear. other than that, absolutely no problems at all. tapos, to be informed that mga 300k lang daw pag trade in ko, parang sinampal ako.

    i was thinking along the lines of maybe 500 to 550k since the vehicle is in outstanding condition and its well maintained.

    Any of you guys know where i could get a better value for my ride? thanks

    (if KIA's vehicles are really turds as far as resale value is concerned, then im off to buy a montero sport or sportage)

    Bro, mababa talaga ang valuation kapag trade-in.

    If you sell it outside, you can get roughly 500-550k for your 2008 LX MT.

    26300 ata... basta mas pandak yung oil filter ng tucson.. pero parehas lang ng thread size..

    Brother check mo ang advertized selling pricw sa Sulit & AyosDito. 500 to 600K ata ang asking price nila, depende sa actual condition ng car. Trade-in price talagang super low ang presyo na offer sa yo.

    So far wala pang definite pagdating sa total cost ng damage. Halos buong araw ako nagbantay ngayon habang binabaklas yung makina at hindi pa sila tapos. I was able to note down some of the damages:

    - one damaged piston together with the liner (scraped) - hindi pwede bumili ng isa lang. set of 4 daw ito.
    - cracked oil pump assembly - i think this is also expensive.
    - hindi pa nacheck yung turbo
    - cracked/punctured oil pan
    - hindi naman daw tinamaan yung crankshaft

    On a positive note, napansin ko rin na manipis na ang clutch disk (pag tuluyang napudpud ito, sisirain nya yung dual mass flywheel) at siguro time na rin para palitan yung timing belt. At my own expense na ito para mapalitan na at minsanan na ang gastos.

    Yes sir. Sa Malayan ito naka insure. The company is just waiting for the complete estimate and other documents before they decide on the matter. Pero sana change engine na lang .. kaso mukhang yung insurance company ang magdedecide nito based on how they will weigh the costs.

    matibay din daw yung oil pan nung carens pero yun nga matigas talaga yung bato..

    Gusto lang kumita ng malaki ang casa. Kung titignan mo rin sa valuation ng insurance, nasa 500-550k nga ang value ng carens natin. Pareho tayo ng age ng Carens (mine is LX MT June 2008 Model).

    Sad to hear what happened with your carens.

    Nasira din oil pan ko, it was replaced ~3 months ago. In my case sobrang liit ng crack, halos di ko nga napansin hanggang makita ko sa garahe na may maliit na oil drop. Meron naka usli na part ng nag crack na kalsada sa cavite last time we were there, di ko napansin....bigla na lang BLAAAGGG. Nung tignan ko naman parang ok lang, halos 1 week na ng mapansin ko yung leak.

    Pinalitan ng insurance thru casa (sa kia alabang).

    mga 450-550k nga bentahan ng carens sa mga nakikita kong ads. Ours was bought Nov 2007.

    Kaya nga sir. Ayun nasa casa pa rin. Im still waiting for the insurance's approval. Sa main branch kasi manggagaling amg appoval. The total estimate is 220k (yung turbo 70k at yung crankshaft 42k na). Wala pa definite sa amount na kailangan ko i shoulder (participation fee + 25% of the cost of new parts).

    Paalala lamg mga fellow owners- wag natin i underestimate ang mga tama ng bato o anuman sa ilalim.

    ayon na. pag casa talaga mahal ang price. Turbo whole assy replace? baka yan pwede bearing and seal lang palitan. you will save plenty of money there. Crankshaft if no cracks, machine ginding will do a good job then change bearings to next undersize dimension, you save money also here. Yan problem sa casa kasi sa kanila basta ma sira replace whole assy agad.

    I think better talk with your service advisor about my suggestion. pag sinabi nila na di na pwede recon eh sabihin mo patinggnan mo sa machine shop. Remember wla machine shop ang casa. padala rin nila yan sa machine shop tapos patong presyo

    Sir weisshorn mas maganda ba kung bearing at seals lang ang ayusin sa turbo or bago na lang? Iniisip ko kasi kung sakali at malapit na rin bumigay ang turbo eh mas maganda siguro na papalitan ko na. Pero yun nga kasi dagdag gastos on my part pa rin at baka nga repair na lang ang isu suggest ng insurance to cut on cost. Yung crankshaft ang tinamaan lang naman eh yung sa may valve lifter ata yon di ko sure at may potential din daw na naluto ito ng sobrang init kaya baka daw marupok na ito at mas maganda na lang na buo itong palitan. May price na nga ito (42k) pero baka walang stock sa planta. Ang tanong ko sir, basta basta lang ba ito bibigay or sinasabi lang ng casa ito para palitan na lang ng bago?


    Sira yung isang piston kasama nung liner nya pero 1 set daw itong pistons. Eh sayang yung 3 anong gagawin ko dun? 15k din yung apat.

    I already talked to the insurance at try din daw nila ipa estimate sa accredited shop nila baka mas mura. So eto nasa waiting mode pa ako. Pero prefer ko pa rin sa casa gawin plus mga parts dapat mangaling din sa kia para sigurado. Pwede ko ba i insist na sa casa yon pagawa? i will present to casa your suggestions. Sa tingin ko nga mas makakatipid ako dun kasi eto yung mga major parts na sobrang mahal. Thanks a lot sir.
