Just to update you guys....
If you recall, I posted here a few months ago that my Carens was unfortunately flooded during Storm Ondoy. In any case, it was towed to Kia Pasig last 02 October 2009. Partial approval of my insurance claim came around mid-November. Since then, my car has been sitting in the warehouse/service center of Kia (first, in Pasig; then transferred to Bicutan; then, I heard that it will be brought back to Pasig) since then. Supposedly, it has already been thoroughly cleaned to prevent further deterioration BUT major repairs have not yet begun because the replacement parts have not yet arrived.
My question is: how long does it take for an order of parts to come in? It's been more than two (2) months since Kia has been duly authorized by my insurance company to begin repairs and yet nothing can be done because the parts are not available. And, in all honesty, I am getting really really frustrated. What do I do?
Sir Mqavila so you opted to have your Carens repaired and you intend to keep it. I thought it was declared as a total loss..anyway, I can understand your frustration. Maybe to save on cost, CAC schedule the shipping of parts together with the shipping of Carens units. It would be to their advantage but not to us owners.
I hope Kia Pasig could give you a straight and definite answer as to when the parts will arrive so that you will not be kept in the dark for too long..
nabaha din carens (lx) ko (upto waist line level) during ondoy, but after almost a month at kia north edsa... naayos din (at pati sa banawe para sa mga di naayos na parts).... buti na lang lx lang sakin at walang airbag at abs if not, baka umabot ng 150k or more ang repairs.... inabot lang ako ng 40k sa casa at almost 10k sa banawe (para sa doorlocks, alarm, foglight relay)
to revo,
yung power windows mo malamang assembly na papalitan... sigurado sunog motor ng power windows mo. yung power locks.... 10 to 12k ang set nyan... believe me ive tried to have it converted to the taiwan motor (yung may rod type)... pero di pwede sa carens. Yung mga lights mo malamang grounded... may mga relay, fuse at wiring na baka palitan... pati instrument panel malamang assembly.... mahirap kalagayan ng sayo... malaki pa gastos at matagal pa pagpapaayos... i suggest assembly na brand new talaga sa lahat ng affected parts if you're not brave enough to do conversions....
to mqavila
sana pina total loss mo na lang as i posted sa above, na victim din ako (waist line level)... pero dami pa problema after saka di lahat kaya gawin ng casa (or kaya pero mahal abutin lalo na wala akong insurance).... puro whole assembly mga papalitan sayo sir based on your description... it may take anywhere from a month to six months to fix flooded cars depending on severity and parts availability... and of course, availability ng mga service personnel ng casa... remember, they may be doing hundreds of flooded cars just like yours.
however, if you can try to have your Carens done at KIA NORTH EDSA, magaling ang service nila doon. mine only took almost a month. fortunate lang ako nung pinasok ko carens ko, wala pa silang customer na nabaha ako yata first na pumasok... pero napuno din agad dealership nila kasi may mga Ford units din silang inaayos (Laos Auto Group). But im satisfied naman... they STRIPPED whole interior (including all wiring, dashboard, seats, carpeting) and dried all connectors, ECU, etc etc, flushed all ATF (5x) and engine oil (3x) and other servicing requirements for flooded vehicles (may checklist sila ng mga gagawin).... pero as ive mentioned marami pa akong pinagawa outside of casa (door locks, alarm, backsensor, foglight relay, aircon compressor bearing, etc)....

Bros Hanren and odie_vti, actually, I didn't have a choice in the matter. The insurance company did not declare it as a total loss because upon its own evaluation, that my Carens was still "repairable". That's why it only approved roughly P360K out of the P600K repair estimate by Kia Pasig...
Kia Pasig told me though, that normally, other defects will start to crop up once they have replaced the major parts and have had the opportunity to testdrive the car. If so, their repair estimate will certainly go up and hopefully, the insurance company will finally declare it as a total loss.
I really love my Carens but after being flooded, I'm just not that comfortable with it anymore. At this point, all I can do is wait and see. I'm sorely tempted to write a formal letter to Columbia or to the major car magazines about this. Guys, if you know of where or who I should write, I would really appreciate the help. Thanks!
Hello sa inyong lahat, my wife and I are planning to purchase a pre owned 4th qrtr of 2007 EX Carens Crdi that has clocked at 15K Kms. He is selling it at 750K.
Is Carens really worth buying? Problematic ba ang Carens? How about the performance? I heard the owner saying that there is a delay everytime he pushes the pedal to the floor. Help po mga sirs before we put our hard earned money into it. TIA!
yung delay na nararamdaman is not caused by the turbo kasi vgt na yan yung turbo lag present lang sa mga waste gate type turbo..the lag is more caused by the ecu retarding the acceleration to make sure diesel fuel is burned efficiently... kung mapansin mo most old school diesel engines mausok sa arangkada so to avoid that medyo delayed yung bigay ng power ng carens.. pero from 1,500 rpm up mapapasandal ka sa silya mo sa lakas ng hatak
sayang talaga yung mga carens na nadali ni ondoy.. sana lang magpadala ng complete parts line up ang CAC to support kia vehicles...
dito lang sa kia alabang nung nag pa PMS ako.. yung katabi ng service center ng chevrolet punong puno ng mga nabahang chevy vehicles.... from the low end aveo up to suburban meron at hindi pa nagagalaw
That's what I heard nga sir na malakas talaga ang hatak once nasa power band ka na nya. I even saw sa Utube a Carens speeding sa Autobahn in Germany at 220km/hr. Top speed na yun ng SiR ko.
How about yung mga pangilalim nya sir, matibay ba? Yung A/C ba nya ay di naman sirain? May provision po ito na ire chip ang ECU like what I heard sa iba Sta Fe owners sa forum na pwede daw irechip to get a higher HP and torque? Sensya na, it will be our first time to own a diesel car if ever. Thanks po ulit!
Hi Whiteb16a,
Got 08 Carens EX here.
I Tried 200km/hr * Sctex, my carens is Stock and no modification at all. vibration lang ng sidemirrors ang concern ko beyond that wala problema. Steering is ok aswell the handling.
they replaced my rear shock absorbers *35k odometer. Right now im almost 42,000 na sa milage ko still no kalampag and quiet talaga sa loob.
Year and a half aircon lang problema ko. (thanks JUN).
Sana mabili mo na. Highly Recommended.
Pag me lumabas na carens in the near future sana makabili ulit. hehe ganda eh.
May konting worry kasi ako dahil up to this year na lang ang warranty nya baka magastusan ako ng husto.
Guys help!
Last few days ago alarm occurred in our carens and it is for the water content in the fuel oil filter..Just yesterday service man from Iloilo brought with him a spare filter,,replaced it and test drive and it was all ok,.We pay for a total of 4,150 pesos..This morning my wife use the car to bring the kids to school and was ok,.but this afternoon the alarm goes on again..
I just now told my wife not to use the car again and drain out all the fuel inside the tank..for some reasons which we don't know yet maybe thefuel tank was contaminated with lots of water,,but from where? From gas stations? Presumably, they are the only one filling the tank..,,Dirty fuel? (Diesel)
But we I use the same Fuel station,..If I'm home..Don't know now..Coz some times my brother use the car..
Anyone experience this, help help naan diyan![]()
when it comes to performance, power. thumbs up sa carens. but pinaka gusto sa carens maluwag sa loob(headroom) compare sa other mpv. almost 2 years na carens ko no problem so far. aircon malamig parin.
latest speed ng carens ko.

The only problem i experienced in my carens was nung na stuck ang egr that resulted in black smoke coming out of the pipe and slow accelaration, nung na linis na, balik ulit sa dati ang acceleration ng carens.
Medyo new look na carens ko, new shoes, rear bumper guard and chrome side molding ang upgrades ko sa carens ko, post ko picture pag uwi ko sa bacolod next wk.
better check your fuel line and tank for contaminants.. sensitive pa naman ang crdi sa water in fuel... also have a diagnostic check baka false alarm na din kasi.. hindi ko alam kung same ang water detection ng crdi sa old school diesels.. sa old diesel engines kasi may floater sensor sa may fuel filter (bottom) na kapag may tubig mag float yung sensor and send signal to the cluster..
you can test drive... at least may warranty pa.. just save around 50k for future repairs kung meron man... nabanggit naman sa thread yung mga problems na lumabas pero minor lang at hindi common sa lahat ng owners.. also hingi ka pa tawad hehe.. medyo pricey kasi ang brandnew ng kia sobra pero laki naman ng appraisal sa trade in ng car..
yung sa aircon naman naka climate control kasi ang carens kaya over worked ang compressor...yung sa carens ko always max ang temp ng aircon then manual turn off-on ko na lang pag malamig na
