ano kaya ang advice ninyo for me who wants a compact suv for the wife?
my original thoughts were on xtrail ( pero reading the threads here, ang lakas pala sa gas nito, almost like an expedition daw, sabi nuong isa), and escape, pero wala akong nadinig na happy sa dalawang ito.

now i am looking at a fuzion, or a sportivo, and will look for reviews on these models from experts like the people in our tsikot community.

    salamuch muli.

    Hi sir.

From what I hear, the Fuzion isn't exactly efficient either and the Sportivo may have a jarring ride. Just my two cents worth. :D

If you can stretch your budget, there's also the Subaru Forester.

    Hi.

I posted my problem in another thread. I'll copy/paste it here so that I could get hopefully more replies.

This is what happened a few days ago. (PART 1)
"I just got a '03 trooper na skyroof 4jx1 engine (ODO 69500 kms) a few days ago. Nag pa change oil ako sa petron using Besco oil 10w30 and original filters at nagpalit ng mga fan belts. Ang haba kasi pila sa kasa kaya petron ako tumuloy. Pagkatapos change oil, pauwi na ako sa bahay nahalata ko na everytime inaapakan ko ng mabigat ang gas pedal may parang tumutunog na fan belt/ parang hangin na hirap higupin ng engine. Binawasan ko yung apak ko para mawala yung tunog.
Nung mag park na ako sa isang grocery bigla na lang namatay makina. Sinubukan ko start pero ayaw na. We towed it to Isuzu (casa).

Hopefully someone else can shed some light on what happened.

What follows is what happened today. (PART 2 )
"I just talked with the Isuzu Service supervisor this morning. He feels that the sensors (RPCV and something else ) caused the problem. He also told me that If the original owner didn't change the recalled injectors, he would replace it for FREE. Hopefully walang ibang problema para less gastos. Will keep posting here for updates.

I like the size and shape of the trooper and that is the reason why I bought it. I just have a couple of questions for the owners of the Isuzu Trooper 2003 Skyroof.

    1. How long will it take before I can get my ride back assuming that the injectors and sensors caused the problem ?

    2. Has anyone here tried converting/changing the engine of this trooper model ? What engine did you use ? How much did everything cost ?

    Thanks in advance

^^ my friend skyroof model was changed to 4jgtc engine. Engine ito ng trooper up to 00. iba sitwasyon nyo. nabili nya yung trooper na mura kasi bigay na makina. di na mapa-run man lang makina so no choice but to change engine sya. siguro gumastos sya ng around 100k(not sure about it ha). kasi nabili namin engine only(not transmission) for around 65K but no starter, alternator and AC compressor. ginamit nya yung sa 4jx1 engine. hth

Just curious. Does anyone know what the cotton thing on top of the manifold is for (4jx1) ? It has 3 screws and the cotton is mounted on a rail ?

    THanks in advance.

Does the 00-01 model have the dreaded 4jx1 engine as well? parang most of the time it's the Skyroof Edition that's more problematic based on the posts in this thread...

For fellow members who have already availed of the Injectors Recall Program for the 4JX1, did you pay for the wiring harness or was it also free like the injectors?

Bro, hindi kasama wiring harness & injector sleeves. As far as I can recall ang pinalitan sa Trooper ko free of charge injectors & RPCV [rail pressure control valve] . Kung 5 years na Trooper mo, I suggest you replace the wiring harness [lumulutong] & injector sleeves [wear & tear ng O-rings] para sabay na lahat & as good as new na naman Trooper mo. Mga 10k for both parts & labor = peace of mind.

Thanks for the info bro. The Trooper was already scheduled for release yesterday, so di ko na nahabol na palitan yung mga injector sleeves. I was charged for the wiring harness but the good thing is, na-avail ko yung discount of 20% under their promo w/c lasts til the end of Oct. He,he.... The parts that were replaced under the warranty, as indicated on the Repair Slip, are the Injector Nozzle Kits worth about 40k for 1 set.

Sayang opportunity na sana to put new injector sleeves. Read the manual so you can easily recognize the icon. Ang tanda ko the indicator will only turn on if water detected in the water separator.

It should have been mentioned by the service advisor, but usually they aren't that knowledgeable when it comes to more technical repairs. Parang sanay lang sila sa mga PMS..... I will look out for that, but hopefully, after having the injectors replaced, it will take longer before the problem comes out or better yet, it never will. Thanks!

For one reason or another they don't mention it at all. That's why I have to go back twice. At 55K for the injector recall & at 65K for the injector sleeves & wire harness w/c I paid for including draining of fuel tank & fuel filter change. It's the O-ring in it that turns brittle. Well ours is a 1st generation CRDI as Isuzu was the very first one to launch & popularize CRDI. BTW, watch your cylinder head. Very Important Tip: Use coolant from the casa only & keep the receipt. Our cylinder head is complex - all 3 fluids pass thru it - coolant, motor oil & diesel fuel. The 3 cavities makes the walls separating the fluids thinner than usual. Our cylinder head is aluminum & not as hard as steel. Using casa coolant will help you justify a cylinder head claim if & when it goes due to corrosion. The Alterra cylinder head as been modified due to this weakness. You will have to replace the injector sleeves, it's just a questions of time. If I where you I'll do it next PMS. BTW, the cylinder head problem does not happen to everyone, just watch your coolant reservoir if it smell of diesel & if you notice unusually high furl consumption. Outside of these, the Trooper is one heavenly ride w/ a more refined & powerful engine than its contemporaries.

New Trooper owner here! Hoping you guys can help me out with some things:

    - any recommended shops that know how to repair the headlight wipers?
    - what should the average reading in the oil pressure gauge be? right now our Trooper reads below 6, as in nasa 2-3 level lang. dunno if that's normal...
    - anyone here with a Trooper Service Manual (Haynes, etc...) in pdf format? or maybe post a link to where we can download one?

    Many thanks to whoever responds!

Do you guys know around how much the Trooper's bumper integrated foglights cost? It is only optional in our version (2002) and the headlights seem to be somewhat inadequate. And what kind of headlight bulb would be the brightest when put in the Trooper?
