    we had our trooper since 2003 and we just replaced the injectors 1 due to bad fuel.. naka higop ata ng foriegn substance.. damn that gas station.... and since then ok naman ang trooper namin... but evry 3-6 months ko pinag change oil kahit hinid pa ummabot sa mileage... better safe than sorry.. mahal pa naman magpapalit ng injectrs... hehehe... buti nlang we got ours in waranty the first time... maybe next wont be... magstos nga lang, mahal pa naman ng oil sa trooper like the besco... i dont mind the change oil expense as long as my rides gonna ba ok... hehehe.. but it would be better sa troopeer kung makatakbo cya ng mabilis at loooong distances.... mukhang mas mganda ang tunog ng engine compared to just driving around the city...

    Kasi nagpa kabit ako ng CAI/ racing filter sa Trooper.. sobrang lakas ng higop ng hangin eh.. baka yata may kinalaman dun..

    Hi Sir Starex_Gold, ask ko lang san nyo sir nabili yung CAI nyo? and what brand? OK ba performance? sorry dami tanong sir because Im planning to put one also.

    sir i have a CAI. its a K&N filter (open type) bought it at speedlab for 5500Php.

    Bakit mas madami na nagkakaroon ng injector problems mga 2003 model na Trooper? mas kaunti ang naririnig kong may nangyari na ganun sa 2001 at 2002 a. Satisfied talaga ako sa Trooper namin, recently lang naka 50000kms ito (2002 model w/o sunroof) may isang beses tumutulo ng langis sa ibaba ng makina. Pinakita namin sa A1 Del Monte ang sabi daw dapat gamitin lang na oil ay yung binebenta ng Isuzu, nakakasira daw pag iba ang ginagamit at mabuti nahalata ng maaga kundi mga 200k daw kailangan pag nasira! Pero pagkatapus noon wala nang ganun na ngyari uli. Nagtataka lang, bat minsan parang nalilito ang overhead digital "infometer"? esp. pag nakahinto, nakakarecord ang thermometer ng mga 50 degrees C! Yung altimeter naman sa iba ibang araw sa parehong area nakukuha 0m minsan 20m minsan naman 30m? pero pag tumatakbo ng mabilis katulad ng sa NLEX o sa mga mountain roads like Marcos Highway or Kennon Road accurate naman lahat ng readings! Patanong lang, ang mga models 2002-2005 na Trooper ba locally assembled o imported from Japan (CBU or CKD) since phase out na ang Trooper by that time?

    Usually around 70k nasisira ang injectors, marami ng engine overhaul at cylinder head ang nasira because hindi naagapan yung paghalo ng diesel sa langis. I think 2000 or the Euro versions with 4wd are the last CBUs all 4by2 are locally assembled.

    ganun b.. kung naka install na ang ganyna na filter, dpaat wala na usok or maputi na ang usok mo... maybe the filter has very fine holes na hindi masyado maga higop ng hangin ang engine... black smoke is usually caused by uneven mixture of fuel and air... or ano b gamit mong oil sa trooper mo??? meron naman nilabas ang isuzu na oil for tooper which is less cheaper than besco but still vey good for trooper engine.. econo yun brand or label with a blue plastic gallon container...

    Shell helix yung oil ko.. medyo tumino na yung usok nya. pero mag switch na ako sa Royal Purple. Ganun ang gamit ni S_Quilicot sa Trooper nya eh. Better daw than besco tsaka mas malakas ang hatak.

    May I ask what model is your trooper? I am planning to buy a second hand unit na trooper and I had an initial talk with the owner. It's a 2002 Model, local and with a 3.0cc 4jx1 engine. Is the fuel injectors really that bad for this particular model? I saw a thread regarding this matter and it kinda makes me consider my decision to buy such model.

    We had one from 2003-2011. Engine performance is very good. Ride comfort is good for a ladder frame SUV, though handling is rather poor. Beige interior is a pain to keep clean and some plastic bits are rather brittle like the map light switches. It was a great car for its time. Unfortunately, the 4JX1 was a bit too ahead of its time and so design had many flaws. Once injector problems kick in, it becomes a potential bottomless money pit. Its actually more of "swerte swerte". Some have hardly any problems and really enjoyed the car. Others curse it to the high heavens. Avoid if you aren't the type who likes to tinker and/or it is going to be your only vehicle.

    If you really want a Trooper, I'd suggest you look for a 3.1L 4JG2 unit. Less powerful, less sophisticated, probably less fuel efficient but proven and extremely reliable. Same goes for the 4M40 Pajero and the 1KZ 90 series Prado.

    Tungkol sa usok, may solution tayo diyan. Yung 2003 Trooper ko na 3.0 ay mausok din pero ngayo powered na xa with our wonder oil. click niyo sa FB ang www.egt at lalabas na xa. Matutuwa kayo, automatic transmission malakas ang pick-up, malakas ang hatak, at humahatak kahit mag-isa xa, matipid sa diesel at WALANG NAKATATAKOT NA USOK. Hayun araw-araw nasa kalsada.

    At heto pa, kung periodical ang change oil ninyo, with EGT hanggat kailan niyo gusto mag_delay kayo ng change oil niyo. Every 10,000 km ba ang schedule ng change oil? Gawin niyo na 25,000km.u

    Regarding pala sa thermostat, siya din ba ang nagco-control ng temperature ng aircon ng trooper natin? Hindi na kasi na-adjust temps ng aircon ng troop ko eh hehe. Mura lang kay Jayson, 600 petot orig thermostat for 4jx1 engine

    Hi guys! Would like to ask if ok lang palitan ng oem trooper steering wheel with airbag yung bighorn ko? No need to change steering column? Kahit d ko na paganahin yung airbag if it needs a new steering column para gagana. Thanks

    hindi ako sigurado kung kelangan pa palitan eh. Pero yung kinakabitan ng switch ng wipers at headlight baka kelangan mapalitan..

    nakita ko na rin yung manibela ni 4JGtootsie.. kung beige lang yung kulay nun matagal ko nang binili..

    Fellow trooper owners, tanong ko lang po kung ano ang normal na reading nung oil pressure gauge. Fluctuating kase yung saken although within the normal values naman. Sabi kase sa casa before eh mejo bibigay na yung oil pressure pump (?) nung unit ko. Anybody who could shed light on the subject? thanks peeps...

    mga bossing... saan ba pwede maka bili at pakabit na rin ng snorkels para bighorn 4jg2 at kung saan maka bili ng mgandang fog lights... cheers
