Hi Guys/Gals,

I've been reading this thread for quite some time now and pansin ko bakit walang reply about new Alterra model coming out.

Actually, I've been in a dilemma for 3 weeks na and sakit na ng ulo ko. I've been choosing between Alterra'09 and Everst '09. From what I read and heard from people I asked.....syempre pagdating sa diesel...ISUZU. Comfort and FC Alterra is ahead with the 3rd generation diesel euro 3 engine.

But....but I'm still hesitant because I also read in a lot of auto thread that Alterra is and old unit already and might be changed soon.

Can someone please share their thoughts of a new Alterra body coming out and not just facelift again with accessories. Plssssssss lang share your thoughts..... 1M++ of cash is not easy to earn and I just want to buy something worth it. I'm afraid that when I buy the '09 Alterra unit...next year may bago na....biglang depreciated and '09 unit.

Help! help! Sakit na talaga ulo ko

More power to you all!

Based on my personal monitor of FMC and MC of manufacturers, it's safe to get the Alterra now.

Sarap naman ng dilemna mo! What car to buy? he he...
Just my opinion though...
I'll never go for Ford since they are not known for good resale & just like any American brand they lack follow thru. How many Ford makes can you name that are continued up to today? Laser? Ford Courier? Taurus? Telstar? When cars are discontinued, they lose value & most of all spare parts availability.
I'd go for the Isuzu Altera... 1st, as you've mentioned... its the last few models and Isuzu has perfected the car already. I mean all the customer complaints from the first batch to the succeeding batch of production have been addressed. That's why I dont advice friends to buy first production cars... the only good thing having a first production car is the pride to be the first few owners. But this is not good since you are practically the guinea pig. So i always go for the last few models... almost perfected plus you get lots of freebies!
2nd, Isuzu has been known for reliable engines. Definitely you wont have problems on mechanics or spare parts.
I hope this helps. GO for Isuzu.

Mga sir i finally bought a 2nd hand 2005 alterra. I need help since I'm new to this car. I just wondering if you know a shop near Q.C. where I can have my car have a regular check up which you think is good but resonably price aside from casa since I am on a budget. My car now has 21.7K reading. Thanks po!

Joeymitsu,

This has been my practice since I started owning cars.

• for diesel engines every 5,000 kms change oil & filter.
• Every 10,000kms. Change fuel filter.
• Every 20,000kms or every year check brake pads/shoes, replace if necessary; replace clutch fluid & brake fluid (have them drained); replace air filter.
• Dont schirmp on the parts. Buy original filters, pads & quality engine oil (I use Shell, Caltex Delo or Castrol multigrade)

Just keep this practice & you'll drive a long way. Di ka ititirik sa daan.

As to a recommended shop in QC, I just bring my car to a neighborhood talyer or gasoline station and bring my own parts.

I hope this helps. Cheers!

* Joeymitsu: First, CONGRATULATIONS on your purchase!

Relative to what BUSDRIVER already mentioned, you should have your Alterra thoroughly checked since you got it 2nd hand. The objective is to determine its current condition and be familiarized of the items you would need to address on. Ika nga, "reset' to 0 condition --- simulating as if you're the 1st owner.

Good luck and post a pic of your Alterra for us to see!

Second, yung hand brake lever ng Everest pang pick-up style pa. Pag nabangga ka ng head on collision, sigurado warak yung right knee-caps mo nito. Sa US yung biro about Ford is that it is an acronym for "Fix or Repair Daily".

Guys,

It's still better to get the Alterra when it comes to diesel reliability. The engine has been tested already and when you talk about resale value, comparing to the everest, the Alterra would still command the better price. Check out second hand car dealers and you will see the everest sells at P550-600k while the Alterra still reaches P850k up. Stick to this forum for more news about the Alterra. New comers are always welcome to join the CIA (Club Isuzu Alterra). We also have a multiply site: jefsan08.multiply.com.

There are a good number of shops tht sells 20" rims here in Manila but what immediately comes to mind is Wheel Gallery (distributor of Concept One wheels, TIS, etc) and Nitto and Avon tires. They are located in San Juan. DUBSHOP too in Timog Ave, QC.

Should be between 120-150k depending on the brand of rims and tires. I arrived with this estimate using:

RIMS = 60k (vary depending on brand)
TIRES = 60k (15k each x 4 pcs)

Hahaha! Don't worry, that's normal. One would always want their vehicle to look good... Madaming mapagpipilian dyan... depending on your taste and budget.

But I suggest that it would best to worry about the rims when the unit is with you and all priority items (mechanical/electrical) issues are addressed first.

But as a guide, I suggest multi-spoked or dish-type (with lip) for street look.
