    Wala bang 4X2 na CRDi-VGT baka mas mura naman kaysa duon sa 1.4M na 4X4... I just love kasi yung 0-100 accelration ng CRDi I just love it wala talaga sa gas yung ganun typong acceleration! Kaya maka CRDi pa din ako...

    *tidus, agree ako dyan.

    people who don't experience driving or owns a CRDi, will never share the same sentiments towards a CRDi engine users.

    And I believe the new Tucson has the new R-engine... Eh yung lumang 2.2L ng Santa Fe 2nd gen ang lakas sobra ng acceleration making a joke on Civic ricers eh itong R-engine pa...

    tingnan natin itong P300,000 difference bet. gas n crdi variant...

    let's say one travels 20,000kms a year
    and wild guess FC, maybe medium to heavy foot:
    gas = 6 kms/liter
    crdi = 10 kms/liter

    so, sa fuel funds ng 20,000 kms a year ay:
    gas = 20,000kms x 1liter/6kms = 3333.33 liters
    3333.33liters x 42.6pesos/1liter = P 142,000 a year

    diesel = 20,000kms x 1liter/10kms = 2,000 liters
    2,000 liters x 33.25pesos/liter = P 66,500 a year

    so: P142,000 - P66,500 = P75,500 difference with regard to fuel funds only per year.

    therefore:
    P300,000 divide it by P75,500 = 3.97 years to get the 300k difference

    syempre, nandyan pa maintenance costs, etc.

    paki edit na lang po for mistakes in my post. just tried this before because of the plan in the past to choose between gas n diesel variants.

    thanks.
    nice

    the expenses for the maintenance of the engines should also be taken into consideration. afaik diesel engines are more expensive to maintain than gas.

    then there's resale value as well.

    boss, tingin ko dapat ding i-consider yung resale value.
    kasi di naman magkapareho magiging selling price ng gas at crdi variant.

    therefore: after 4 years. bawi ka na sa difference.
    mas mataas pa ang magiging selling price ng crdi variant kumpara sa gas.
    by how much diff., di ko na alam.

    Sa torque pa lang ng CRDi matutuwa ka na kasi di ka bibitinin sa overtaking.

    Sa maintenance mas simple, change oil & oil filter every 5k, clean air filters or change them pag sobrang dumi.

    Pagdating sa baha, mas better ang chances na magsurvive ang diesel engine mo kesa sa gas engine.

    At least 5 years from now, I would expect resale value ng CRDi 200k or higher than the gas variant.

    With gas prices, oil companies can go as high as they want. With diesel, daming magrereklamo pag tumaas ang presyo lalo na ang mga PUVs. kaya tempered ang price increases ng diesel.

    Kung di kaya bumili ng brand new na Diesel Tucson, daming 2nd hand diesel Tucsons na mabibili mo around 800 to 900k.

    Padipadi: The average km travelled per year is 10tkms afaik. But good presentation nonetheless for people who will travel that much and keep their vehicle that long.

    CRDI acceleration is really good. I can tell because we've owned a diesel focus. But there are people who doesn't enjoy crude engines which is why they settle for petrols...quiet and plush.

    As for maintenance, most petrols nowadays enjoy a 10tkms pms interval while diesels 5tkms. Not sure but I think new gen diesels still need calbiration at some point which is another extra cost.

    To those who are contemplating in waiting for the crdi tucs and is concerned of efficiency/cost, things to consider are:

    1. Difference in price bet petrol and crdi
    2. Kms travelled per year
    3. Maintenance cost of crdi vs. petrol

    These are all taken from the discussions in this forum.

    Good thing we own both types, a VVT-i and a common-rail diesel. No doubt, the midrange pull is awesome. But one thing I don't like about diesels is that they don't have much top-end punch so redlining is pretty useless. So an equivalent gas engine would catch up to the diesel easily on higher speeds.
