I was in Hyundai Dagupan where they showed me the Tucson 2.0 gls matic...it was really a very goodlooking SUV, nagkabayaran na sana kami kung di lang sarado yung bank that saturday one thing, i know walang test drive these days, but when i asked for the SA to turn on the ignition key, sabi nya yung susi ay nasa isang agent na naka break daw. also, bakit may mga patay na gamu gamu dun sa malapit headlights na nakadikit?

Kung may extra money lang ako I would also go for the diesel coz so far i havent read anything bad about it, just you saying ang "lakas" ng power nya..

    Ahh.

Pwede ka rin mag GL CRDi.

Pero syempre minus leather seats at cluster rheostat (gauges dimmer).

Sa exterior naman, plus side garnish at mud guards.

    It's up to you.

Both of them have negative sides. hehehe.

Way beyond my budget na ang diesel variant

hi! newbie here. been reading up on hyundai tucson coz i plan to get one for my wife. She likes small cars daw but i'm a big guy (so out vios, jazz, city etc). compromise is tucson. My dilemma is whether to go for theta gls 2.0 or CRDi. Am leaning towards the diesel but the price diff got me thinking... Please bear with me...

The price difference is 180T between the two. If i buy the diesel and manage to save around 500 pesos per week on fuel (example, instead of 2000 per week 1500 na lang dahil diesel mas mura at mas tipid sa consumption), then it would translate to 26T savings per year. This then translates to nearly 7 years before i can start enjoying the benefits of diesel frugality coz i already paid for it with the more expensive price tag. I normally change cars after 5-6 years... This is based on moderate usage lang at average 2000 pesos fill up per week using our crv. Papalitan na namin kasi crv...

lalabas kaya 4x2 CRDi Tucson yung Hyundai? something to think about huh?

it does have its pros and cons.

for the theta, yes, it is cheaper in price tag but more expensive to run due to rising fuel prices. but it is cheaper to maintain than the crdi variant. mileage is at an average of 7-8 km/liter...other can achieve higher. though it may sound like the 174 bhp is a good number, it is far off compared to the crdi's pulling power. magkaiba rin ang seat trim ng gl crdi sa gls theta. pero bare naman ang exterior ng gls theta.

you may also want to consider pms fees for the crdi and the theta variant. also consider your need for the vehicle...do you always go on long drives or would you simply use the unit for city driving most of the time?

and yes, there is a 2wd crdi, but HARI does not sell them yet...only gray unit sellers sell them now and they are priced higher than HARI's units.

Maybe when the sales of the 2nd gen tucson mellows down would HARI consider selling the 4x2 CRDi. Kaya lang baka na-satisfy na ng gray unit ang demand ng consumers by that time.

Regarding your concern whether to get a gasoline or diesel engine...you have to weigh the pros and cons cited here from various owners based on their own personal experience against the things you are considering. Since you are focusing on the cost...maintenance wise, 8 liters ang oil ng crdi while 5 liters for the theta II, this is fixed and I believe should be on top of the things you should consider. Tipid sa consumption I think is depende sa driver in terms of km/L measurement...factor in the price per liter of fuel, dun na magkakalayo sa cost difference.

Maybe we could ask for a comparison naman ng 4x2 theta II against the 4x2 e-vgt...in terms of maintenance and fuel consumption.

IMO kung city driving lang at hindi ka naman heavy user mas ok pa din bumili ng theta.

    Nasa general region kasi tayo.

thanks bro caster, kulafu, spiderman7755 and starex_gold for your inputs...

i believe my figure for 500 pesos a week savings on filling up diesel versus gas is already generous. Kahit 800 per week savings (on diesel instead of gas) would still translate to 41.6T per year savings or 4.32 years before break even.

imho, i think theta is a more practical choice for my wife as she will be using this only for city driving. bale wala na sa kanya yung horse power or torque coz she drives like a grandma although i will use this car on the weekends instead of the 'hand me down' altis i got from my brother. I use the altis on work days...

for now, the price diff is just too much for me... maybe until HARI starts giving discounts (ie. nag slow down na demand for tucson)
