as consumers, we need to check which dealer protects us the best - ex. warranties, support, etc.

try not to let the emotion of having a bnew van(to be the 1st in your neighborhod) get the best of you. try to compare notes bet. standout and HARI ... as well as HARI vs HARI dealerships as well. its also best to wait if you dont need it. usually the first few months of a new release, no discounts and freebies are given. you never know if the new model has initial problems... so there is some advantages to waiting.

mukhang mahal na yun +1.4M entry price even if its all new. with LTO and insurance it will spike up to -1.5M

purpose ko lang sa van ay para madami makasakay. GRX M/T is now given with 50k discount and free lto... parang +-1.14 na lng.

    Hello again fellow Starex owners!

Asking again for your help! My 99 TDIC Starex has this starting problem, it occurs in the morning, intermittently spanning weeks apart. When I turn the ignition, nothing happens, no clicks, and the engine does not turn - dead. However, all the other electical stuff works - radio, lights, horn, etc etc.

The first time it occured, I thought it was the battery so I got a new one. After putting the new one in, the engine started like nothing happend - strong engine turn.

A week later, it happend again. Had the battery checked and it was stong as new. When I put it back in again, engine turned no problem. Malakas ang redondo.

When it happens now, I just diconnect the batt and connect it again and the engine would start! Somtimes, I would need to honk the horn a bit while starting for the engine to turn. It's like the current needs a boost.

This happens once in a while as I said, not that frequently.

Any ideas what the problem is? Anyone have the same experience?

    Thank you very much!

Hi Everyone, I just got my 2000 starex and iam very satisfied with it as for the moment..... I have questions though regarding my turbo. Ive notice oil spills comin out from the engine thru the intercooler. Is this Normal? And when iam driving to 2000rpm on highwy it seems that the rpm goes up and down. Parang may barado or parang ipit yung tabo.....

Thanks for the insight OTEP. I see your point as I wear my engineer's hat. However, if I wear my (family's limited-resource) manager's hat, it does not sink on me... I guess that's how it is, based on our current financial condition...

I like our Starex. Pero, there's definitely a limit to what we can afford in the future... Hope I won't have to decide on that a few years from now.....

Bro, if there's a small trace of oil,- it is normal. I drive a 2005 GRX TCI AT.

Is your drive AT?,- If it is , then, the RPM dips when it reaches ~2500, because the "gear changes". This is specially so, when you're accelerating..... You observe....

May I suggest having the starter checked.

I experienced similar symptoms in our 2002 Carnival. I had the van diagnosed at the casa and the technicians found nothing wrong with the electrical system. In fact, when the engine was warm, the problem wouldn't manifest. It only showed up intermittently during cold mornings. Anyway, the service advisor suggested that I have the starter checked if the problem cropped up again.

When I did as advised, it turned out my starter contacts were already worn out. I opted to have just the contacts replaced, instead of buying a whole new starter motor. No ignition problems since that time.

Yeah, for what it offers, the Starex seems reasonable priced. But it's also out of my league. I'll just stick to my trusty wagon for the time being.

Thanks for the reply Mikey. Your problem was similar! I also suspect this. It just might be it. The van being 8 years old, baka ubos na ang brushes ng starter motor. I'll have it checked! Thanks again.

    Hi WNG

I had that experience too bro. I just cleaned the intercooler. After that
you can feel that the engine breaths easily. The power is restored.
