    otaner,

thanks for the info. SA's were really clueless, it's a good thing you have the printed specs.

with regards to the ABS, only ESP is not available in low specs. low specs have ABS with EBD.

SF na. Maganda looks ng CX-7 but seriously do you really want a gasoline engine powering a car that size?

+1. without sounding biased, get the sta fe. read / browse the CX7 thread here in tsikot. the average FC they get are around 5km/l. that will burn a hole in your pocket

Congrats po Sir Koji!!! Same color pa tayo ng SF! We are Car Twins! hehehe

Tama nga ba or is it just me?

    for a mini review:

    - i will keep the comparison between the sta fe and the montero sport. because that is what we have in the same category. although i can compare it with my cousin's 1st release fortuner gas in the future when we get a chance to meet up.

first impression on the interiors is good. looks upscale than the montero sport. although the upholstery is fabric and not leather, it is nice looking and sporty.

the HU is uhhhhhh.......something that i might change in the future. it has the nice features like gps navigation, dvd player, big screen, tv tuner (but i can't get any tv channels), ipod input, aux input. the sound is good enough. what i didn't like is the screen itself. i find the display a little too pixelized for my taste. any suggestions? but i will wait for a few more years before i modify anything. full audio controls on the steering wheel.

aircon is COLD! (not that the MS aircon is not cold. it IS also cold) had the fan set to 1 and thermostat to about 11 o'clock position and it is still comfortable. inside was my wife and myself, around 4pm after about 30min of rain. there are aircon vents in the second row (B-pillar) and the 3rd row (left and right side under the rear side windows, the MS only has one side on the 3rd row). 2nd row vents is dependent on the main fan setting, whereas the 3rd row has it's own fan setting at the back. but you still have to switch on the 3rd row fan from the dash board.

driver seat adjustment is spot on. we don't have the power seats. it has the usual fore/aft, recline and lumbar adjustment. what my wife liked is the height adjustment. the headrest can also be adjusted fore/aft.

sound insulation / deadening is A LOT better than the montero sport. with the montero sport, i always find myself looking over my shoulder and pulling the power window switches up. because when a vehicle passes you by, you can hear them as if your windows are open. didn't happen with the SF. everything was nice and quiet inside.

the engine is powerful. i am not exagerating. it really is powerful. haven't tried the full potential yet, but i can already feel the torque. can easily reach 120km/h without complaints. only needs an inch or two on the accelerator pedal from a traffic light and you will really move. you will not hesitate to overtake any vehicle. the tranny is impressive. the shifting is unnoticeable. keeps the rpm in the 2,ooo-2,500 range in normal driving.

brakes are superb. can stop the SF at any speed. the brakes does make a funny sound when crawling from a stop or when moving very slowly with a light pressure on the pedal. but this is expected on any a/t vehicle. we have this in our other a/t vehicles as well.

    other nice things:
    - rain sensing wipers
    - headlight has an auto detent (i still have to read up on this)
    - electric folding side mirrors (the brochure says this is only available on the 4x4, but we got it also on the 4x2)
    - rear spoiler
    - back up proximity sensors
    - back up camera (not specified on the brochure, but it is standard on our unit)

    on order:
    - mud guards (not standard on the 4x2, one month to order from casa)

    still on the study table:
    - the 4x4 grill is very nice. thinking of getting one after a few years. i'm not after the 4x4 look, which our unit is not. but the grill is just irresistable.
    - painting the grill and door handles flat black to match the dark tints. i always preferred the black and silver look on our cars.

    now for the cons:
    - the HU is VERY, VERY, VERY bright. read the manual and did the precedure. the lowest setting is still to bright at night. it is distracting and defeats the purpose of the dark tints. it is too bright that people outside can see those seated in the front seats even at night.
    - the control to blank off the screen is at the romote only and it needs a few presses on the remote to switch it off. but once you touch anything on the HU, the screen lights up again. even with the volume knob.
    - anybody knows any shortcut procedure to switch off the screen???
    - the back up camera sometimes work sometimes doesn't. will bring it back the the casa on monday.

this is our fist korean car. the whole family is impressed and happy with our purchase. will not hesitate to buy another korean car in the future.

Thanks mam LR and sir SG.

your SF is my bigger brother. 4x4 kasi eh....heheheh

yup, the 3rd window on the MS is bigger. the view form the inside is also better.

anyway, we will go to tagaytay today. full house kami. test drive and unit.

    Tucson naman next!

Very nice review. Mahirap nang ilantad dito ang mismong comparo niyan between the MS kasi baka may mga mag react.

During your break in period, the car is ready for full throttle.

Changing the HU. Kenwood or Pioneer ang maganda. Pwede rin JVC

Alam mo, malayo lang pero sa Hyundai Alabang, they allow you to bring your own oil...

(hehehehe)

    update:

went to tagaytay today. inside were 5 adults, 2 teenagers and 2 kids. seated at the 3rd row were 1 adult, 1 teenager and 1 child. they sit comfortably and didn't get dizzy with the ride. 2nd row were 2 adults, 1 teenager and 1 child. a little cramped but no complaints. takot siguro baka hindi makasama pag nagreklamo...hehehe.

ride was a bit bouncy. maybe beacuse of the new shocks absorbers ang springs. but not to the point that it is irritating already. tire pressure is 33psi all around which was checked at the casa yesterday.

power......cannot find any faults here. going up along sta rosa -tagaytay road, no problem overtaking. was using "D" all the time. sudden press on the accelerator and it promptly downshifts. we can feel the power and most of the time we get planted on the seats (depends on how deep i press on the pedal). my dad commented "eto ang kulang sa MS"

tranny....same as my previous review. flawless. going home, i used the shiftronic / tiptronic / sporttronic of whatever you call it while cruising along SLEX. it is a nice to have feature. will play more with it when i get the chance.

turning radius....it is very tight. tighter than a compact sedan.

rain sensing wipers...it really works. rained in tagaytay and it adjusts the intervals as needed. never had the need to manually set the wipers.

FC...basing it on the OBC. going up tagaytay it shows 10-11.5L/100km. going home and cruising at SLEX at 130km/h it shows 9.2L/100km. this i cannot compare with the MS. kasi my dad fills her up. then yung SF naman, hindi ko pa napa-full tank para ma-compute ng maayos

the gps navigation is pretty accurate. easy to manipulate. free data base update pa from the casa.

overall we are happy with the SF. everybody is happy. including my very young nieces.

BTW, the head light assembly has letterings saying the projectors (low beam) are HID. the rest are halogen. i looked into the engine bay and i saw a ballast on the driver side headlight. but i find the light not as bright and too yellowish for my taste.

that is all for the meantime. will update when i get the chance.

thanks! nag blush naman ako. hehehe...

yeah, i expect some reactions on my comparo. but cannot avoind it. kasi yun ang meron kami. ayaw ko naman compare sa ibang brands na wala kami. and mas ayaw ko na compare based on sabi-sabi lang.
