Fort/MS/Everest/Alterra they have one thing in common, they are all ladder frame SUV. Owning those SUV are much cheaper and best of all, for me is the brand name.

Better visit this site and register, www.santafeclubph.com and learn your advantage of having SF compare to other SUV.

    Hope to see you there

Well technically Sta. Fe is not a competitor to the Fortuner, MS, Everest and Alterra as its a crossover and not a SUV. Paminsan nahahalo kasi price range pareho lang pero tunay na kalaban nya is CR-V, Captiva, RAV4, Forester, Outlander and the like.

Pros against ladder frame SUV is definitely riding comfort and handling. Mas maluwang (elbow room) din Sta. Fe then Fortuner and Co. Ride height talo pero malaki kasi gulong ng Fort and Co. Cons is very minimal off roading capability.

I can only speculate why people prefer Fort and MS. #1 reason is Korean stigma. Still very prevalent. Also it feels that those SUV's are more value for money kasi from the outside they look bigger and they cost cheaper too. Pero only people who have ridden one can atest that SF is much roomier than Fort and MS. They are cheaper because they are made cheaper. Thailand made tapos their bodies are already existing from the pick-up (Fort is to Hilux and MS is to Strada) so halos wala ng research cost on the part of the manufacturer unlike Sta. Fe its a global model and the body is made from scratch so malaki ang research cost nila dito...

ahh.. so one definite advantage ng Sta. Fe vs. fort and others is maluwag sa loob..

well, mas malaki ang fort kumpara sa mga crv, so definitely, mas maluwag ang sta. fe vs. yung original competitors nya like crv.. well, obviously, mas mahal ang sta. fe against its original competitors..

Hi Guys we got our SR Sta. Fe awhile ago and my first impression is that we partially made the right choice... Partially only because I need some answers to the following:

    1) Mileage - We got ours with 11 kms. already registered in the odometer. Normal lang ba na may ganito? Kasi kung tinest drive nila eto during inspection / pre-release I would expect something less than 5 km. sa odo...

    2) Weird Sound inside the Engine Bay - At first I told my dad that what we are hearing is the diesel engine. He told me it may be a loose belt pero I heard it when shifting gears (from R to D, from N to R, from P to D. Sound is different from the diesel engine when idle. Ano kaya eto?

    3) Brakes - We noticed that there is sound when braking after shifting from P to D or R to D or D to R. No weird sound when braking from driving/cruising speed. This was the first one I noticed palabas pa lang ng garage ng casa and the SA told me normal lang daw yun and obserbahan daw namin. Normal lang ba etong sound na eto?

With all the above quibbles, ok kaya na gamitin namin eto tomorrow?

This is our 1st Hyundai and all I can say I am not yet that impressed with their initial quality. Though I am still hoping that everything will turn out fine. It should because we are planning to use this car for 8 to 10 years.

Aside from that wala na akong alam.

    1. Buti ka nga 11km ako 16km na. Syempre they also drive the car to the CASA sometimes from the warehouse.

    2. Is it the whistling sounds? That's the VGT. That is normal...

    3. Normal. Yung ba yung Grrrggg sound. Normally it happens once you release the brakes when you switched from P to either R or D.

    IMO masyadong kang praning!

Ok sir baka praning yung 1 & 2. Pag from R to D or P to D or D to R after doing the shift and moving a couple of meters umuugong yung brakes pag tinapakan. Pero while cruising 40-60 then mag brake ka wala namang ganun.

Hi sir, although I don't have a Sta Fe, here is my opinion.
    1. this is totally normal, if you think about it, medyo mababa pa rin, sa four cars I bought new, when it was released, the lowest was 21km highest was 40km if i remember correctly.
    2. No comment
    3. For me, this is normal for an automatic, usually when you place sa reverse, sometimes the back lifts up a bit and its normal to hear creeking sound (for me, its the suspension and transmission adjusting to the small torque). If I may, try observing this again by pressing fully your brakes when shifting from P to R or P to D or D to R. If fully depress, your wheels wont move because of the brakes and if you hear the sound, most likely its the suspension adjusting and for me, its totally normal.

    Mikmik,

I also bought a second hand SF. I agree with your observation regarding "clicking" sound when shifting from P to D or D to R or N to D. It is nice to hear that from a new owner of SF. It validates my belief that it is because of the ABS. You read the manual regarding shifting gears or about the ABS. It is there. " It is a must to hear this clicking sound for the driver to make sure that the ABS is working before you drive the vehicle. Ok yan, tahimik kasi masyado ang SF diesel engine for a diesel kaya naririnig mo lahat ng malilit na sound.

Ask also sa casa about it. Feedback us also regarding fuel consumption. Mine is 7.6 kms/liter so far. Hope it will improve some more. Even with that consumption, I am satisfied because it's big, and malakas humatak.

Enjoy your new ride. Sarap niyan. Hope I gave you some peace of mind.

So-so lang yung 7.6km/L it can be improved. I get 8.5km/L on city driving...

    Mga sirs,

1-week old na ang Sta. Fe namin and here is the story:

    1) Bago ilabas sa Casa, sinabi ko dun sa SA na pakicheck kung 30 ang psi ng gulong. Sinabi lang nya na sir na-check na po yan standard daw sa pre-delivery rountine. Dahil di ako kumbinsado sa rason, i asked him 2 more times and ignored the request. Pagkauwi comment ng parents ko bakit matagtag... The next day Lo & Behold 45 psi ang nakalagay sa tire pressure!

    2) We had the car released Oct. 17, Saturday. Since we noticed the creaking sound of the suspension and the umuugong sound of the brakes pati na rin yung whistling sound na short whistles ng makina we had the car checked Oct. 19 sa Hyundai Commonwealth. Since nasa 2ng floor ang maintenance area at off limits hindi namin nakita...

Right now the whistling sound is livable kasi sabi nga ni Sir Tidus yung VGT yun... wala na yung creaking sound ng suspension. It is really annoying dahil nagtanong ako sa Asst. SA ng Hyundai Quezon Ave., when he tried to replicate the problem sa incline wala namang ganung tunog yung mga Starex at Sta. Fe na nagpapaservice dun.

    3) We used the Sta. Fe Oct. 20 back & forth Fairview - Makati and so far interior is very quiet & comfortable according to my folks. Para daw nakasakay sa old Merc M-class ang comparison ng suspension / interior comfort or quietness. They are pretty happy with it although pag lumabas ng loob ng sasakyan at marinig yung brakes sa nga inclines or during cold start nadidismaya ng konti.

    4) I'm targeting fuel economy of 10 km/liter sa first fill up namin.

    5) The SA is offering us to buy a Tucson and after a test drive... We are all thumbs up & planning to buy the so called 2009 Tucson Spec-Up at a good price (around 1.035m).

    6) As a side note, our Sta. Fe arrived sa HARI / Planta ng August 09 and was delivered to the dealer Sept. 28, 2009. We got it Oct. 17 PERO ang napansin ko yung mga anik anik ang kapal ng alikabok! Kahit na covered yung parking lot ng CASA you will be amazed kung gano kaalikabok new cars get because the stupid PLANT and CASA doesn't bother to clean the cars. Lilinisin lang kung bibilhin na.

That's it... Sana ma-resolba na yung problema namin because the the love fest with the car may soon wane pag lagi mo naririnig sa umaga yung brake na umuugong / creaky door sound!!!

Thanks God my SF deliver to me (Iloilo city) from E Rod was perfect!

Let me clarify Sir mikmik yung sound sa brakes, noticeable lang ba sya during morning? I mean sa SF ko ganyan minsan sa umaga specially kung nag car wash ako the night before. Yung cause ng ingay for me is yung rust formation sa disk at caliper. After stepping for a couple of times wala na yung ingay na parang nag liliha.

One scenario na naririnig ko ang ingay ng brake is when I step on my accelarator while naka foot brake pa. My bad minsan nakakalimutan or steping on my footbrake kahit hindi pa fully stop ang car.

One more thing, ang ingay ba comes from all 4 wheels?

Kung hindi maayos ng CASA mo try to bring it to other Hyundai CASA like E Rod.

    Update nyo lang kami Sir!

Mga sirs, our Sta. Fe has already 620++ kms. and it is already our 2nd week of ownership

1 - Our fuel consumption is 8 km/liter. Travel is usually Fairview - Makati, Fairview - Ortigas.

2 - Seems the brakes / suspension problem went away.

3 - BUT... noticed that the back plastic molding of the front passenger seat was loose. Tried pressing it to the seat and mukhang hindi nag-cli-clip. Will visit the casa on Tuesday. Is this claimable under warranty since it is not obviously due to wear & tear we only just logged 600++ kms!!! Pwede ko kaya papalitan yung buong front passenger seat? Grabe ang initial quality ng Hyundai...

4 - Plate - Sabi ng SA 1 month daw bago makuha... WTH! 1 month???

Now i'm very queasy about the Rexton II we will get this Wednesday... crossing fingers na sana walang ganyan mga problema...

    1. Your FC is fine for 4x2 thought it may improve more once reach the first 1000km PMS

    2. Good to know the noise disappears by itself

    3. I think that is claimable! Just present your unit to your SA for them to see and eventually replace with new one if not repairable anymore.

    4. AFAIK normal lang 1 month since I got mine after a month also.

Goodluck on you new Rexton, post some photo nalang for us to see here in tsikot

Mikmik, just curious, why did you buy the old model SF2 when there's a facelifted one with a better engine and tranny coming into the country soon?
