While everybody else wanted the Sonata in white, hypermetalic and black, I decided to be different and got the Blue Black Sonata.... and boy, I wasn't disappointed... really liked the changes in color during daytime when its dark or navy blue and night time when it comes close to black. When you look at the paint closely, its like black paint covered with shimmering dots of blue (metallic color ba tawag doon?). So anyway, since I haven't seen any blue black sonata in the streets, then if you guys see one, that's mine! hehehe dared to be different....

Anyway, here's some questions from the observations I had while having the Sonata for a week now.
    1) The stock horn does sound lame, hindi bagay sa machong kotse. So thinking of changing the horn. Any recommendations?
    2) Reading through the manual and comparing it to the brochure, I wasn't really sure if the car does have an alarm system. The manual says optional Anti Theft Alarm System. I asked my dealer, she said the car came with alarm for forced entry. Is that true? I know the car has remote key locks that when you press the button, the headlights flashes, but you don't hear any chirp sound to signify engaging the alarm system. So I'm a bit confused if my non-premium sonata came with an alarm system.... What about immobilizer? The manual mentions it but I don't see any signs of it in my car.... any help? The dealer said that if I install a different alarm system, ma-void daw ang warranty ng electricals....
    3) The dealer said to use the highest octane level. But the manual did say that unleaded octane level 91 can be used for non-european cars. So can I just use Petron XCS? or should I go for the highest octane fuel?
    4) My hyundai tucson when I turn the ignition with all doors closed, the door locks automatically. But in my Sonata, it doesn't. I also expected that similar to higher end cars, the door locks should lock automatically when the car moves a few meters or upon reaching a certain speed.... any help?

Other than those concerns mentioned above and my past posts on car cover and car seat cover, I can say that I'm a very satisfied owner of a Sonata... while at the car park area, I was parked between two similar category cars, the toyota camry and the honda accord.... Hands down, walang binuga yung dalawa sa porma! Its as if all the tiny details of the Sonata are made as futuristic as the car itself. Even yung side window repeater lights, futuristic ang dating compared sa naka install sa camry and accord that looked liked it was just an added accessory that was stuck to the side mirror for added luxury. Hehehe

The YF is simply a model suffix. We have the same model as the Koreans so... Sonata YF for us. The i45 is Europe I believe.

It's kinda like Honda Civic's models: EG, EK, FD, etc.

You can't really improve the sound quality of a head unit per se. and I am unaware of any aftermarket OEM head units that Sonata owners can avail themselves of (is this the one like sa US?). However, you can improve the sound quality of your CAR and for that, you should take a peek at our forum's car audio section... madami na ako na-post doon

The most cost effective route is simply changing the stock speakers. However, you might have some problems on it since we have built-in amplifiers and subwoofers :D ewan nalang.. I'm not experienced in technical and installation matters so don't take my word on it. But if your aim is to improve the sound quality, you should drop by your favorite audio installer. If you don't have one, I can recommend you some names near where you are.. just drop me a PM.
Thanks for the advice jhnkvn! Doing a little bit of research before taking the plunge. :-)

Yep. We already have pre-installed mudguards/mud flaps.

We HAD a black-blue color available? Is it kinda like this..

If it's the same color, then I guess HARI expanded their color lineup. The initial available colors were really black, white, hypermetallic, and red. If you got that color as the above image, I envy you.. I always liked that color . I believe they called it Pacific Blue (Asia) and Granite Blue (US).

#1 Yep, stock horn sounds lame.. I'm also thinking of replacing mine actually in the near future as its anniversary is nearing. Sulit naman over the long run as long as my few thousands can annoy jeepney drivers stopping in front of me. Go ask Starex_gold for suggestions on a beefy tone. If not, go to youtube and start listening.

#2 I believe the alarm system is the red dot blinking at your front windshield when you park the car. As to how it activates, I got no idea really. I'd rather like it NOT to activate hence I try avoiding small roads at night or parking in shady areas.

#3 You don't need to. I simply use Shell's Super Unleaded/ FuelSave Unleaded on my day-to-day commute. Although right now I'm using Shell Super Premium since I gas'ed up at a station without FuelSave last week. Tried using Shell's V-Power a while back but I didn't really feel any significant improvement to merit the additional pesos. If your engine's the turbo, sure.. but if not, stick to the regular.

$4 You can manually program this. Err... I kinda forgot which button but it involves holding that button while at "Parked". You can then select when the doors would close. You can program it to close when you set the shifter to Drive or when it achieves a certain X speed, etc. I'll go fiddle around with my car later..

Yup... thanks my Blue Black Sonata! In the old brochure, there were only four colors -- white, metallic, red and black. With the new brochure, they added one more color - blue black. So I guess rare niyo pa makita yan kasi the said color was just made available only recently.

re #2 - I also am thinking that the red blinking light in the dashboard is the alarm system. But then according to the manual, that's also where the sensor for the temperature and the rain sensor is located.... Ang dami palang sensor ng sonata... meron din sensor for auto headlight that turns on the headlight when it gets dark, sensor for the wiper which turns the wiper on and adjusts the speed depending on the amount of rain, etc. etc.

re #4 - I just recently found out from the dealer that the non-premium sonata doesn't come with the automatic door lock when you turn on the ignition when all doors are closed. It also doesn't have the automatic door look when the car moves forward at 20 km/hr... oh well, you can't have it all, what with the P200,000 price difference... From what i've seen so far, here's the rundown of what's the difference between the Sonata non-premium and premium:

    1. Premium has Amplitude Selective Damper (I've read somewhere that ASD is not really compatible with the type of rugged roads we have in the Philippines...

    2. Non-premium has size 17 magwheels, premium has size 18.

    3. Premium has solar glass, non-premium has regular glass... but then again, even if you buy premium, you'll still need to put tints with our harsh sunny weather....

    4. Premium has airbags for driver, passenger and side and curtain airbags, non-premium has only airbags for driver and passenger.

    5. Premium has auto door locks programmable when you turn on ignition will all doors closed and when you reach a certain speed, non-premium doesn't have this feature.

    6. Premium has panoramic sunroof.... pang pogi points but I doubt you'd be using it often, what with all the smog and dust coming inside the car...

    7. Premium has all leather seats, non-premium has combination leather and cloth... haven't decided yet if I have to put leather seat covers to protect the seat, kasi ang ganda tingnan ng leather/cloth combination ng upholstery...

    8. Premium has power seats for driver and passenger, non-premium has power seats only for driver...

    9. Premium and non-premium has different audio system with the premium having subwoofer, amplifier and cd changer... but both audio system i believe are basically the same except for the larger LCD screen of the premium.

You guys noticed the trip computer? How come average fuel consumption is xx liters per 100 kilometers??? Makes it hard that you have to get your cellphone, use the calculator function, divide 100 by the xx nr of liters to get the Kilometer per Liter reading.... such a hassle don't you think??? Mine for example reads 13 liters per 100 kilometers... then I have to get my cellphone/calculator to divide 100 by 13 to get the consumption at 7.69 Kilometers per Liter.... Hindi ba dapat tulad sa US na ang reading is Miles per Gallon? So ours should be Kilometers per Liter???

Finally got our YF last thursday! we got the blue-black non-premium variant with a pretty good discount. for those in the market for the sonata, some dealers are offering really good discounts for the remington red premium variant.

some initial thoughts about the car:

1.) the ride is really smoooooth. haven't really driven the car hard. parang feeling ko relaxed na relaxed lang while driving it.

2.) the sound system sounds so much better than the one in the tucson. even if the non-premium doesn't have a sub, the sound i think is pretty good. clearer and mas buo yung bass compared to the tucson.

3.) it's a big and long car. sumayad na yung ilalim ko trying to go up the garage of my in law's house. mukhang di kaya umakyat nito on short inclines because of the car's length

4.) i love the blue black color. it's nothing ordinary. i guess kasi ang dami rin naka white or hypermetallic kaya nagsawa na ako. :P

5.) although its only been a weekend, FC is pretty good for a 2.4 liter car. seems like pareho lang siya with my Tucson theta (around 7-8 km/l)

6.) i feel like this is a car good enough to sleep in. with quiet, refined ride, huge legroom and soft seats (feeling ko naka-tempur ako). what more could you ask for?

7.) the horn still sucks. too bad i couldn't get a freebie. but okay na rin because of the discounts i got.

8.) all in all, really happy with the purchase. chose this over the new civic. such a good upgrade given the close difference in price

Guys, question pala to sonata owners. Yung connection ko with my ipod (using the ipod cable), biglang napupunta randomly sa FM/AM radio. is there something wrong with the cable/ipod/radio? can't see to figure out why this happens.

    inputs please, thanks!

Yep. It's a big and long. Almost sure sayad ako sa mga sidewalks ng Banawe if I park straight especially with the additional pounds my sound system carries.

As for the random napupunta, maybe the iPod cable is loose? If not, take it to the casa and have it inspected.

If you have a case, take it off.. It's often the culprit for your loose connector problem.
