Even if you aren't a premium brand, at the end of the day it's all about profitability.
Honda doesn't go Mitsubishi's route of sacrificing their margins for volume, yet are able to stay within the top 5, and make a good profit out of it.
If you're an established brand, dropping prices is a sure-fire way of boosting sales, but at the end of the day, if the priority is profitablity, I don't think Honda will make more money selling their HR-V at Ecosport prices than they would at XV prices.

Honda HR-V and Ford Ecosport are not in the same segment. Mazda CX-3 is in the same segment as the Honda CR-V.

I thought the CX5 or CX7 competes with the CRV...
personally, i think they are just way too many segments that it just doesn't really segment those cars apart from branding imo.
