Since turbocharged, an ECU reflash is just what it needs to get the output up. You can even raise to the same output as those in the Accord and CRV using the same engine.

^its actually a smart move by the dealer.

bawal car mods sa SG, pero madaming car shops sa Johor which is only a river away.

It’s so expensive to own a car in Singapore. Owning a subcompact car out there is like owning a midsize car out here, maybe even much more.

A Civic there costs PHP 4M after taxes

Same as a BMW 520i here

But there is a market for cheap-ish cars in SG for people with families

And lowering the power output to avoid taxes is acceptable by that market

yes. its technically, illegal pero meron pa din gumagawa.

yung ibang engine mods naman, the shop can remove/hide the mod before the annual inspection tapos ibabalik na lang nila kapag cleared na registration ng car.

Can they detect an ECU reflash?

this is a big misconception... once a Singaporean can afford a car, bibili na sya. kahit single pa sya.

big headache nung lumabas yung Uber since 20 year olds with 1year license can get a car and drive Uber.

kaya I mentioned a lot of times, kahit gaano kaganda ang public transport, ang tao pag naka-ipon na, bibili ng kotse

Civic RS in Vietnam. Parang cosmic blue.

Mas gusto ko yung mags nito kaysa sa Thai spec na RS.

    From an insider…

HCPI might launch the all-new Civic mid October or early November.

They will offer 2 variants only.

2.0E - will have the R20 engine. (W/o Honda Sensing)
1.5RS - improved L15B7 engine. (With Honda Sensing)

Thoughts about this? Di ba malakas sa gas ang R20?

So patay na nga ang R18. RIP!

Yung Vietnam mags katulad yata ng sa US. Yes pangit mags nung Thai release.

I think Civic owners or prospect buyers don't care much about fuel consumption. We want powah!

At least same na sa US yung engine options. If you want good fc may City RS naman which looks good as well.

Though Honda US uses the K20C2 base engine.

Honda Thailand does not produce that eh. So baka nga R20 talaga dumating dito, same engine with the current base CR-V.

Yeah yeah. R20 or K20 basta 2.0L still an upgrade over the R18.

The R20 engine was used on the 2.0L model of the Civic FB. It is a “greener” engine conpared to the older K20.

For around the same displacement as the R18, the R20 offers 10% more power and torque. I guess fuel efficiency would be around the same.

You can't say 10% more power is significant while discounting the 200cc (11%) increase in displacement.

Rather, we can say that for about 10% more displacement the R20 gives 10% more power and torque than the R18, meaning they have the exact same specific output.

I expect it to consume 10% more fuel as well if operating in the same range, but in reality it'll probably be run at slightly lower RPM and be a little less stressed so fuel consumption probably won't increase in the same linear fashion.

Base Civics started at 1.6, then 1.8, now 2.0s. These machines are getting heavier huh.
