the 2023 wigo has a... controversial high crash rating.
but a crash that horrific...!
i do not think any crash rating could insulate the occupants...
i mean,
the pickup didn't crash onto the front bumper of the wigo.
the pick up fell onto the wigo at speed.
years ago,
there was this crash comparison involving extended limos.
"it is not as safe inside", as one might imagine.

probably. but are the circumstances the same? kasi the wigo was pummeled from both ends, as i understand it. plus i'm guessing the vehicles in this particular accident were travelling at a higher speed given the wide open vrooming space the tplex offers.
also, a dokyu i watched before stated that , in a vehicular accident, aside from the actual collision of the vehicles, there's another more significant impact that happens, the one where one's "floating brain" gets banged and smashed around the skull's insides. it said the brain can literally be a mush after a high impact smash-up...if the spinal cord doesn't get severed first.
i guess this also underscores the importance of wearing seatbelts for passengers occupying the rear seats. we're pretty lax when it comes to that.

some time back, there was a similar item here in tsikot.
the metro street was flooded (caloocan, near MCU?).
and there was this jeep rubicon.
the driver successfully drove thru the malalim na baha, and he was roundly applauded at the other end.
folks were discussing the vehicle's ford-ability, and how the driver used it.
when he was interviewed, however, he confessed that he did not know any of that.
"all i wanted, was to get home."
Maraming ganyan even here sa NCR.
Pag bumaha, may mga ibang owners of tall vehicles na pinapaalon pa lalo, eh kitang hirap na hirap na yung mga naka sedan at compacts.
Sa manual ko, may warning to be careful at fording running water. Even if just a foot or two deep, the vehicle can be swept away pa rin. Never underestimate the power of moving water, and never get too overconfident about your vehicle, kahit civilian Hummer pa yan.
4WD can only give you better traction under slippery & muddy conditions, but doesn't give you SUPERPOWERS...
1. You never know how deep the water can get.
2. You don't know what the water may be concealing underneath (boulder, butas na malalim, rebars, etc.)![]()
