- the displacements of the supposed "banned" motorcycles on tollways range from 100-250cc. The said bikes can comfortably cruise within the prescribed speed limits and their average top ends range on the 10-20% of speeds above the prescribed limits. They are very very unlikely to rear-end your FAMILY VEHICLE at those speeds. If this is the reason, mas matakot kayo sa mga ALLOWED na bikes because 90% of them use the expressways on weekends as their playgrounds (the majority of them use chauffer-driven cars on weekdays) and they usually run in excess of 200km/h. Same sa mga exotic car weekend boys who blast away with their italians at speeds that everybody knows (tulad nung Mustang GT owner na nakapatay ng pulis after niya banggain yung Mitsu Adventure at speeds above 200km/h). Now in the event that the small motorcyle will rear-end you, it will be a fender bender for you but can be fatal to them. Kung matuluyan, then another one bites the dust. Bawas ang mga pasaway sa kalye. That will only happen either if you stall or run WAY BELOW the prescribed speed limits. However, the small motorcycle will be the LEAST of your concerns. Eh paano kung rumaragasang bus or truck or jeep or even car ang sumalpok sa iyo?
- In the event of stalls na very rare mangyari, mas matakot kayo pag malaking sasakyan ang mag stall, like dilapidated trucks and jeeps. A motorcycle's road footprint is much smaller and mas madali iwasan in the event na mag stall sa gitna. Pag biglang nag stall na truck or jeep, good luck sa traffic or sa pag iwas.
- Hindi lang ikaw ang gumagamit ng expressways. I use it whether I drive my cars or bikes. As per my supposed "banned" bike, I use it as a statement to exercise what should have been my right to use it but was taken away by bigots who were supposedly in charge.
- Do you really know the reason why the ban exists? The very reason it exists is because there used to be a total ban and it got lifted because the AO that implemented it is "obsolete" and deemed unconstitutional as it goes against the equal clause of the constitution. When the total ban got lifted, a very influential big biker group who are trying hard to look like rednecks lobbied that displacements be limited to 600 and above which was argued to 400 and above. A lot of money and politics was involved that's why the discriminatory ban stands today. Members of the said group are prominent people of the society. Big company owners/co-owners, a former PNCC official, one a consultant of the MNTC, etc. Yes, their influence can reach the proper avenues. It was never about SAFETY. It was all about CLASS SEGREGATION. Quoting Atty Luis Sison (the former PNCC chief/big biker group member) - "People who use motorcycles below 400cc are poor and therefore uneducated".
Wag na natin dalhin yung issue ng class segregation ng bikers dito. This does not concern car-only owners.
