Pano ba yung odd-even na scheme?

I heard the interview of Gerry Baja and Anthony Taberna with Francis Tolentino a while ago and he said that the odd-even scheme is only limited in EDSA for private vehicles and buses but due to a meeting, it ended up with private cars only. You could use other thoroughfares but you should be aware that your car is not covered with the color coding for that day. He said that they will start the trial on Nov. 15 up to some time in Jan 2011. Odd numbers are prohibited to use EDSA from 7am to 7pm, no window time, during MWF and Even numbers are prohibited in EDSA during Tues, Thurs and Sat. He said that he had a meeting with other bus transport groups and they have requested that they will follow provided that the color coding will be used to them while the odd-even will be for private cars. He said that the operators told him that their operational expenses will be affected if the odd-even will be used to them.

I just couldn't believe that this is the best solution that they could come up. I think what they should do is discipline the PUV drivers.

Like along Commonwealth, the bottlenecks from Fairview are in Fairview Center Mall then the area of Commonwealth Market, Batasan, Don Antonio, Tandang Sora then Philcoa. The common denominator of what's causing traffic in those areas is the number of PUVs loading and unloading without even thinking if they are blocking the traffic as long as they could get passengers. There are traffic enforcers along the avenue but I guess they are so numb already with the system that the only thing that they do is to look for color coding violators or pull over those delivery vans to get bribe.

So if you put that setting in EDSA, it's still the same coz imagine if 1 bus starts to unload improperly, the whole lane has to stop which would cause a domino effect. Now multiply that 1 to hundreds, EDSA will become a parking lot.

seems unfair to even number plate vehicles. i do agree buses are still the number 1 cause of traffic congestion in edsa. buses tend to pile up in certain places to get passengers.

Win win ang mga Bus dito kasi since you can not use EDSA in going to work and etc.., most car owners might take public transportation instead...

Dapat baliktad... number coding for private then add even for public...

ano pa silbi ng kotse mo kung almost or more than half of the time nasa garahe na lang... Imagine kung 3 ang ending plate mo bawal ka ng Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday... 4 out of 7 days... sounds Illogical or illegal and abusive in our part...

Sasali ako and give 100% support...

Looks like what is old is new again. This scheme was already tried and removed during the first year of number coding was implemented in Metro Manila.

yep i remembered this thats why my mom got a car with odd and even numbers then on separate coding days.

but now its worse, as what 1997 posted, if your end plate is 3 or 7, you get 4 out of the 7 days that you cant use your car. whats wrong with these people that make these rules? baka next time, 2x na lang pwede gamitin yung oto in a week (including sunday)

its so wrong in so many ways.
