Anyway, I used to have clear plate covers on my ride, pero matagal ko na ngang inalis just to be sure.

Eventually, kukupas. Pag nangyari yun, magiging liable ka naman for having uncared for plates.

Yung sasakyan ng biyenan ko has clear plate covers. I remember one time, ginamit namin yun sa Makati since coding yung sasakyan ko. Hindi naman ako hinuli, probably since hanggang Intercon lang naman ako from EDSA. Now that we're planning to use it again this month for another trip to Makati, sana lang safe pa rin siya.

They really checked everything pati plate covers ko.

BTW in response to me spending on my lawyer, I won't even spend a cent

    Thanks for the comments guys!

They should first give warning to passersby muna.

Php2500.00 as a fine is way way too much!!!

Sir, I hate to tell you this, illegal talaga ang colored plate protector at nalathala na yan sa newspaper noon pa. As a matter of fact, my thread na dito a few months back on that topic. You cannot claim innocence by saying na di mo alam. Peace.

BTW, im also using plate protector pero clear lang hehe

It is understandable that when passing by a city like you mentioned, their laws should be publicized and I think it was done properly. Problem is your LTO probably did not know you were going to Makati. Maybe he said it was OK for your area but not Makati. Matagal ko na nabasa ito sa threads like others have said. I think you just have to pay the fine and get on with it. It's not a perfect world, that's the problem with cities having different laws but that's another matter.

Similarly a friend of mine told a story that a friend of his from Vegas passed by California to visit some friends. He was pulled over for having front window tints, which are not allowed here in California (hence the front side windows are clear, but the others behind can be tinted). Limo tint is OK in Vegas, marami naman kasing reasons to do so there. It sucks, but that's how it really is, even if he was just a visitor passing by.

Needless to say goodluck on your complaint.

Kunin mo lahat ng mga bawal sa LTO at MMDA, then exaggerate those by at least a factor of 5.

The result will be the Makati City Traffic Code. :D

I think using clear plate protection should be ok. Yung colored/tinted covers ay mahirap talagang mabasa yung plates. It's clear naman in their ordinance na illegal talaga ang colored/tinted plate cover. The reason by some to use plate cover is to prevent their plates from getting dilapidated. I saw some plates na X series na nabubura. Hindi na talaga mabasa

colored or tinted plate cover = BAWAL.
    ganun lang po ka-simple.

Kung sa LTO nga nakapagparehistro ako the week before the incident kasi di ka makakapagparehistro pag may bawal na nakakabit sa kotse mo ipapatanggal nila. They really checked everything pati plate covers ko.
I really wouldn't bet on the words of LTO personnel in charge of registration. You can even register a car without taking it to the LTO. A blind had been given a license.

BTW in response to me spending on my lawyer, I won't even spend a cent
buti naman po, waste of time and energy na lang. hindi na money

IMO, just learn from the experience. No use contesting the ordinance, I'm sure others before you have contested it, and looking at your posted pic, may greenish tint nga.

Not according to "MAKATI TRAFFIC ORDINANCE Article 18 section 137". It did not mention clear plate cover. And as far as that PNP order, if i remember correctly, the then PNP chief's statement was something like "...that any plate cover that hinders readability... is illegal". Or something to that effect; and unfortunately is subject to various interpretation. My personal interpretation is that the clear cover does not hinder readability, hence not illegal.

I have been using clear plate cover for 5 years now or so. Araw-araw ko sinusubukan for the last 5 years, almost everyday dumadaan ako sa makati proper. Walang huli eversince, kahit naka-stop ako in front of a group of MAPSA enforcers.

But if you want to play safe talaga, wag na lang kayo maglagay ng plate cover. Much like wearing a condom while having *** with your GF-who's-taking-pills the day after her menstruation.

If it's dirty to the point that readability is impaired, then it's also a violation.

actually nung naghigpit ang TMG dati sa mga plate cover, LTO reminded them that there is also an LTO memo that motorist are responsible for caring for their plate numbers and hence the protector that doesn't hinder visbility of the plate should be deemed legal.

They really help a lot. I remember well yung sinasabi nyo na natelevise sa TV at radio na bawal yung tinted plate covers pero as for colored plate covers that does not hinder the view of your plates di ko matandaan (baka nabingi ako at that time )

Ang sa akin lang naman, cge if I violated their ordinance, is 2500 worth the fine??? Kung 250 lang cguro binayaran ko na, pero 2500?!?!?! IMHO if we let these suckers for money feel na babayaran natin sila with that kind of money for simple violations such as using plate covers then what kind of violation will they think of next?!?!?! Baka naman ipagbawal na nila ang paggamit ng sun glasses sa loob ng kotse kasi it hinders the drivers face view (j/k) hehehe.

Do you think that putting accessories in your vehicle such as plate covers constitute a traffic ordinance violation?!?!? Think twice or thrice bros. Traffic ordinance violations are beating the red light, illegal counterflowing, turning on no-u turn, etc. and those should have heavy fines and penalties. Eh dun sa list ng MAPSA yung right turn on red signal Php 550 lang!!!

They should create an Illegal use of vehicle accessories ordinance (SH?T pag nagkaroon nito di ko kasalanan ha)

For me LTO's Php 150 is fair enough a fine plus consfiscation of the plate covers or destruction na lang. I'll just find other means to protect my plates maybe spray them with clear coat

Nasasanay na ang mga bwayang yan and partly who are to blame???

Para yang driving the car without plates but with a lower level of punishment kasi may plates pero naka tint naman.

Is 2500 ok? IMO yes.

MAPSA Incident - Colored Plate Cover Fine = Php2500.00
