The colored plate covers have been deemed illegal for quite a while now, but the implementation of such a violation is not strictly enforced. Coding is actually more strictly enforced.

Sorry to hear about your violation, but your plate covers are actually colored, even if perhaps the color might enhance the numbers.

My plate covers were clear glass. When I heard about this ordinance in Makati, I removed the covers to be safe. I just left the stainless frames.

Regarding sa fines... may pros and cons kung mababa or mataas yung fine.

Example: Actual fine is P1000: kotong enforcer will encourage the apprehended to bribe for half the price or a quarter of the total fine.

    My take on the subject:

If I were to buy a plate protector, I'd buy one that only covers the sides of my plates and not the body. No clear film/acrylic or even glass. Para hindi lang matupi.

    Why?

Our plates are specially painted with reflective paint that even at the faintest light conditions in a dark area, our plate numbers can still be seen, much like reflectors on a bicycle. If you put clear glass over it, light will be reflected OFF THE GLASS and not off the reflective paint of your car's plate. If the cover is made out of acrylic, it will cloud the plate with light (light being refracted in all directions within the acrylic itself).

One may easily see covered plate numbers during the day. How about at night time?

Please stay away from those plate covers, maski clear pa siya. It defeats the purpose of our car plates at night.

Anyway, I used to have clear plate covers on my ride, pero matagal ko na ngang inalis just to be sure.

Eventually, kukupas. Pag nangyari yun, magiging liable ka naman for having uncared for plates.

Yung sasakyan ng biyenan ko has clear plate covers. I remember one time, ginamit namin yun sa Makati since coding yung sasakyan ko. Hindi naman ako hinuli, probably since hanggang Intercon lang naman ako from EDSA. Now that we're planning to use it again this month for another trip to Makati, sana lang safe pa rin siya.

They really checked everything pati plate covers ko.

BTW in response to me spending on my lawyer, I won't even spend a cent

    Thanks for the comments guys!

colored or tinted plate cover = BAWAL.
    ganun lang po ka-simple.

Kung sa LTO nga nakapagparehistro ako the week before the incident kasi di ka makakapagparehistro pag may bawal na nakakabit sa kotse mo ipapatanggal nila. They really checked everything pati plate covers ko.
I really wouldn't bet on the words of LTO personnel in charge of registration. You can even register a car without taking it to the LTO. A blind had been given a license.

BTW in response to me spending on my lawyer, I won't even spend a cent
buti naman po, waste of time and energy na lang. hindi na money
