The interview of the cop that they were beaten or roughed up was played in Ch.5 news. Closest is "dinumog sila" in another interview ( 1:44) aired on 24 Oras...Sorry for the poor quality.

I always thought that Makati was one of the safest cities in metro manila. May MMDA sa halos lahat ng kanto.

You can even see people walking with their state-of-the-art cellphones in their pockets tapos may earphone/headphone na nakakabit.

May mga snatcher minsa pero not as rampant as in QC... Sayang naman.

Oops... mukhang magkaiba tayo ng pananaw sa MMDA, he he he... Mababait naman karamihan sa kanila in my experience.

This is so true. I often see well dressed people and foreigners in coat and tie at dela Rosa walkway. You could see the people are not afraid to wear jewelry or bring out their cell phones. I've always felt safe in Makati until now.

When I need to go to Manila I only bring myself and a coin purse with cash and my driver's license. Nothing else.

Not really. Makati has had its share of crime and security-related problems, among the most publicized incidents were:

    1. the Glorietta 2 bombing
    2. the Manila Peninsula takeover
    3. the Oakwood Mutiny
    4. the Citibank robbery
    5. the Miladay Jewelry Store robbery

Sorry, my mistake. MAPSA nga yata-- the ones in yellow uniform. May mga nakakotse na nag-aabang lang at meron ding mga parking attendants(?) sa side streets.

Nope, I just work here. My wife used to be a pediatrician at Ospital ng Makati and I had a clinic at Cembo before. My child goes to Collegio San Agustin and every day we pass through either C5 going to ayala/makati avenue. I frequent malls such as Makati Cinema Square, Glorietta, Walter mart.

So maybe you're right, I haven't been exposed much to other areas of Makati BUT it's been my experience that I only tried to commute from Marikina to Makati one time when my car's aircon wouldn't work (you can read about this at the Rapide thread, he he he...) and got held up at Cubao immediately.

We've commuted to Cembo/Rembo now and then for four years but never have we experienced any untoward incidents and I've been a regular of the Makati malls since I was in highschool and I was lucky enough not to encounter any of the "worse" elements in Makati.

Now, when I go to Quiapo or Cubao, I frequently check my backpockets to check if my wallet's still there and I hide some of my money in my socks just to be sure.

I'm not saying that Makati is a crime-free city, but at least one of its districts (CBD) is again one of the safer cities here in metro manila. You can walk along Amorsolo street with you samsung omina II in your hand and skull candy in your head without getting harrassed. Try to do that in Quiapo, Sucat, España, East Avenue, or Cubao and (at least) I would be constantly checking my sides.

Those robberies & establishment take-overs are not meant to harm or kill civilians unless their caught in the line of fire. yes, ang daming yellow boys, blue boys (macea security), black boys (K-9), white boys (sikyo) at barongs boys na naglipana dito sa Makati CBD and yet, nalusutan pa rin.
Isn't it the Mayor is the National President of the Boy Scouts of the Phils. whose motto is "Laging Handa"?

hahaha LOL oo nga...he got caught with his pants down this time.

they (police/law enforcement) should have nipped this gang in the bud before they got organized...by the looks of it the gang is a well oiled machine..and had a lot of practice or experience..

The PNP has already identified the Alvin Flores Gang as the culprit on the G5 robbery. Madami na ring tinitira ang mga ito, I wonder, di pa mahuli-huli ng mga pulis itong grupong ito........
