One suspect dead as robbers strike Makati mall
By Marlon Ramos, Allison Dy, Alexander Villafania
    Philippine Daily Inquirer
    10/18/2009
MANILA, Philippines — (UPDATE) One of the suspects in the late morning robbery in a watch shop in Greenbelt 5 was killed by authorities, as police continued to scour the perimeter of the Ayala-owned mall in Makati City for armed men who broke in the posh shopping mall Sunday.
The suspect was seen lying in front of the watch shop.
Police Officer 3 Joy Catapang said the robbery inside the Rolex watch store in Greenbelt-5 happened shortly before noon.

For a few hours, the entire complex was cordoned off as shoppers remained inside while police teams pursued the robbers believed to be still inside the establishment.
But normal operations have resumed in Greenbelt 1, 2, 3, and 4, although Greenbelt 5 remained closed.

Vehicles parked in the mall were also prohibited from leaving.
Authorities are still pursuing at least 11 suspects, according to a report by radio dzMM.
A bodyguard of Taguig Mayor Freddie Tinga, who was reportedly having lunch at the time of the incident, killed one of the robbers, reports said.

Makati councilor Jun Jun Binay is currently in the scene of the crime. [/quote]

    Stupid robbers. hahahhaa.

Why rob an establishment that obviously doesn't scrimp on security?? akala nila they can pull the same stunt they did at SM Malls with Ayala Malls.

Marami ba nakuhang rolex watches yung mga robbers, or cash only?

If they were able to make off with a huge loot in kind, then sigurado

The police should stake out the Batasan complex and see who among the tongressmen have new Rolex watches, hehehe.

robbers nowadays are much more dangerous and wise.

Too bad the two police officers on scene ran out of bullets, one of them hit a headshot pa. I bet some of the robbers were most likely shot aswell.

But these robbers are very gutsy, they play too much gta, maybe.
Come to think of it, they came in full bomb squad attire with m16, m14 rifles and a GRENADE LAUNCHER!? must be fake but still.. ballsey
They got away with rolex watches which I doubt is profitable as those watches are tracable, they will most likely wear them rather than sell them.

I think they might be showing off that they are pros and can do what ever they want. Mind you they had to run pretty far from the scene to their get away vehicles which was parked in front of fullybooked on the underpass. Although I'm quite amazed how they got away easily around Makati area. I swear they could've just parked at Landmark and do some shopping and no one will still know. It shows how poor communications within the security agency system and police response take place. sayang

Btw- if any of them are laughing right now reading the news, forums to admire how awesome they are to pull off a heist.. 'you're lucky streak can only last for so long, you will end up with a bullet in your head.. like your friend'

I read somewhere, that those 2 officers who shot it out w/ the robbers, are security escorts of Taguig City Mayor Tinga, who happened to be at the vicinity of that Rolex store.

    Sayang, isa lang nadale nila......

yup, they are bolder and more vicious.

Kumpleto uniforms, vehicles, at firearms.

    Mafi muk, muk hada!!!
