Another black eye for the Ayala Group, which in my opinion, is an overrated conglomerate. Apparently, mall management didn't heed the PNP advisories on police posers.
Also, mukhang engot din yung mga guards na nakaposte dun. Dead giveaway na yung markings na "Bomb Squad" sa likod, tapos may "Bitag" sa harap. WTF? Real Bomb Squad technicians don't bring M-16 rifles with grenade launchers, but canines and bomb-defusing equipment.
The bag carried by the dead robber contained the Rolexes. The other bag the surviving robbers took were the Tudor watches worth P6 million. Unfortunately, the insurance doesn't cover robbery/ terrorist acts. The robbers will have a hard time unloading the loot w/o the original boxes and COA.

October 19th, 2009 06:39 PM #44Agree on this.
That's why Im also waiting for the news regarding the CCTV footages of the mall entrances. Note that G5 is a new building, and security cameras should be mandatory to beef-up security.
Pwede rin kasi na na-hogtied na yung mga guwardiya dahil planado nga ito. And in case ganun ang nangyari, dapat naalerto ng mall ang kapulisan at naka-respond agad.
For me, I'll comment more against the mall owner (kahit Ayala pa) and designers because of these and not just against the guards.

That is what's fundamentally wrong with us. We're simply too forgiving, which is why incidents like these will happen again and again till eternity. Because some bleeding hearts don't put people to task for their errors and omissions.
Those guards received proper training (or should have), since it's their job. It's all a matter of preparing. And they should have reviewed their security procedures in light of the PNP advisories re: police posers and similar capers in Ever Commonwealth and WalterMart. Instead, they slacked off and thought Fortress Greenbelt was impregnable. I doubt if they conduct simulations (accident, robbery response, fire and earthquake, etc). Buti na lang walang nadamay na civilians.
Parang Typhoon Ondoy yan eh. Pandak apologists blamed the unusual rainfall, but kahit Great Flood pa yan, basta prepared yung government agencies, hindi dapat ganun kalala yung death toll. Pumalpak ang FEMA ng US, so as a result, heads rolled. Dapat ganun din mangyari dito.
I'll let the NCRPO top cop do the talking...
Nothing personal peeps. Just blowing off some steam after dealing with incompetent CSR's from Globe Telecom.

Mall security agency under investigation

MANILA, Philippines—The National Capital Regional Police Office on Monday put under investigation the entire personnel of a security agency manning the swank mall in Makati City which several armed robbers stormed Sunday noon.
Director Roberto Rosales, NCRPO chief, expressed his dismay over the supposed failure of the 33 watchmen of Emirate Security Agency to help out the two police escorts of Taguig City Mayor Freddie Tiñga who engaged at least seven robbers in a brief gunfight.
The security company is owned by former Philippine National Police chief Edgardo Aglipay.
In a press briefing in Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City, Rosales noted that the mall's security personnel breached several "standard operating procedures" in dealing with men brandishing long firearms and posing as policemen.
"If only five or 10 of them came to our men's rescue, then we could have probably neutralized those who entered the store," Rosales told reporters.
Footages taken by the closed circuit television cameras inside the Rolex shop showed that five men clad in black fatigue uniform entered the store, broke the glass displays with a hammer and placed expensive wristwatches in two tennis bags.
But before the robbers could get out, a security aide of Tiñga shot and killed one of the armed men.
Rosales said a fact-finding committee he created would make recommendations regarding the possible sanctions that the police might pursue against Aglipay's security agency.Last edited by Galactus; October 19th, 2009 at 06:53 PM.

October 19th, 2009 10:13 PM #46That's what fundamentally wrong with SOME of us (not ALL of us). Some of us are simply too judgemental which is why we always end up finger-pointing and blaming other people.
That is not to say we can't improve. There's just no excuse in jumping to conclusions, flinging insults and calling people names when one WAS NOT THERE!
Nothing personal -- but let ALL OF US be a little more mature.
And yes, please let the authorities do the talking. And don't try TOO HARD to prove your point.Last edited by creepy; October 19th, 2009 at 10:27 PM.

This unfortunate incident can happen to all malls. Expect more daring heist in the weeks to come.

Well, live your life the way you want. I can be judgmental all I want, it's a free world after all. I didn't jump to conclusions. I made an opinion, period. An opinion is way, way different from a conclusion.
And I'm not trying too hard. Actually, I'm a little soft pa nga. Read the news and listen to the radio. Compared to some, my comments are kid stuff. I posted the news link to prove my point that there were lapses on the part of the security force manning the mall. Trying hard na pala yun? Hehehe, great logic.
Jeez, what's up with bleeding hearts anyway?! This is a forum, people can express what they want, so long as it's not in violation of the rules. And does someone have to be personally there to comment on something?!Last edited by Galactus; October 20th, 2009 at 09:11 AM.

i'm of a mind Galactus in that kulang ng proper consequence dito sa atin kung meron gumawa ng kapalpakan. somebody correct me if i'm wrong, but we rarely hear about people losing their jobs because they did not do it properly - especially when it comes to public safety.

The poor heroes of the Greenbelt robbery complained that they were apparently beaten up by the keystone security. The two cops weren't in uniform. One of the customers almost became a hostage because he took time to return the watch he was fitting in the middle of the robbery. Fortunate for him and his family who hurriedly ran and left him behind in the store...
