At the end, no pain, no gain. The NLEX-SLEX link is one vital cog in clearing the roads of trucks and commerce between the highways and the port area.

    Solution:
Since everyone is going towards Makati in the morning, the authorities should find ways to make the traffic move faster in Makati.

Example: Why not put another road on top of Buendia Ave. with the ground level going one way and the higher level going the other way. Hindi siya bypass.
This was one of my concerns, traffic management on the exit/entrance points. Ideally there should be spur or access roads before the ramps but unfortunately space restrictions are an issue. Another thing they can do is to just lengthen the separated lanes before and after the exit points on top of the skyway to keep the cars in line going to the exit.

C6 is one road that i see as vital in decongesting EDSA and C5 as it is a major access road to the east side of the Metro. I wonder why they just don't get their hinds moving on this road.

eto talaga ang nakakabwiset. I find our LRT/MRT fares ridiculously low. To play, you gotta pay!

The north end of the Skyway is absolutely ridiculous. The placement at the Buendia flyover creates more traffic than necessary, and the pre-Buendia exit is useless, as the people who would ordinarly use it are better served by the Don Bosco internal exit. That middle exit should have been after the stoplight before Buendia... and the Skyway southbound entrance should be further back from the Buendia flyover.

Actually... the whole thing should overshoot Buendia... if not for that pesky grocery store on the west side... grrrr... :hysterical:

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

I'd rather be stressed in traffic inside my own car than to be stressed riding our public trains. Add to that the increasing number of crimes inside them.

And since the first Skyway has been built a decade ago and the volume of cars, trucks, buses & motorcycles has been out of control over the years.
Here are 10 Reasons why it would be the apocalypse for motorists:

    1. There will be construction accidents, and it will happen given the accidents I've witnessed.
    2. It won't be finished on time (who knows anything can delay it)
    3. Get ready for more road rage incidents, hoping no one would get shot.
    4. Lots of cars, trucks, buses and motorcycles(I wish...) will be breaking down due to the long traffic jams causing more traffic jams.
    5. Flooding? Construction debris(sand, cement) and drainages don't mix.
    6. The first and second skyway only affected SLEX (a 6 lane tollway), Stage 3 would be affecting multiple main thoroughfares, roads, avenues, etc....
    7. Typhoons wrecking havoc on the Construction Site/Equipment, the cranes would fly off like twigs.
    8. If the project becomes over budget or other financial reason for delay.
    9. When politics intervene (bound to happen :P)
    10. And when more NEW vehicles add to the traffic (Manila please start a Car Scrapping / Recycling Program like Malaysia or Singapore)

Bonus: Earthquake, seeing that even Japan's Earthquake Proof Elevated Expressways can buckle I'm not discounting Skyway...

On the brightside, Los Angeles has nothing on Manila's Carmaggedon.

+1 here. those coming from the flyover tend to swerve from the foot of the flyover to the skyway ramp, creating a bottleneck. also yung magallanes exit, anlapit yung sign na "exit" sa actual exit. or maybe i always miss the exit signage from 1km back? hehe

yeah! transpo should be only two of the three: comfy, fast, cheap.

comfy and fast: trains and taxi (?)
    comfy and cheap: bus
    fast and cheap: motorcycle

cars fall in any category, depending on your route. haha

ang mas nakakainis dyan yung mga maaarte na ayaw sumakay ng coach pag wala na vacant seats, tapos ang haba ng pila sa baba. gusto nila sila bibinyag sa next coach. very inconsiderate if you ask me. gusto sumakay sa mass transpo tapos ayaw masiksik, tapos biglang aantukin pagdating sa monumento station. im so OT. =)

LRT2 is wider than 1 and MRT3. maybe wala pang ganun kalapad na units nung time ng LRT1 and MRT3?

Or stand still like human pylons, uselessly waving at traffic all day (like those TEs on EDSA Shaw southbound in the morning).

Sabi ni chairman tolenetino sa interview kanina kasama na sa contract ung manpower that will man ng traffic. Maybe konting lecture lang from mmda traffic enforcer. Hindi rin nila kaya mag provide additional TE sa laki ng project at 24/7 pa.

Do the authorities use traffic simulation software before starting a big project such as the Skyway?

If construction goes into full swing and the traffic becomes really, really untenable, I hope private companies would be considerate enough to allow flexi-time or telecommuting at work. Maybe the government can release an EO that would encourage employers to adopt a flexible work schedule so you can limit the number of cars and commuters on the roads.

Beside Skyway 3, these other road project will also join in the traffic mess. Including the Espana-Lacson Flyover and North Avenue-West Avenue-EDSA interchange... Good luck to all.

MMDA asks contractors to be accountable for 15 metro projects | Nation, News, The Philippine Star | philstar.com

MANILA, Philippines - Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairman Francis Tolentino on Thursday appealed to the contractors of the 15 major infrastructure projects slated to be completed in 2016 to be accountable for the safety and traffic management concerns of their respective projects.

Speaking to the participants of the MMDA Traffic Management Summit 2 at the Asian Institute of Management, Tolentino said his agency is willing to train the contractors' flagmen on traffic management."We are here because we know that the events in the next two to six years can only turn ugly first better it can get better. We are here to manage the situation we are faced with," he said.

Tolentino again called on Metro residents, commuters and motorists to be prepared to make lifetsyle and commuting changes as the construction of the 15 major infrastructure projects get underway in the coming months.

Aside from the Skyway Stage 3 and the NAIA Expressway Phase 2 project, also scheduled for construction within the next coming months are the Gil Puyat-Makati-Avenue-Paseo de Roxas underpass,Sta. Monica-Lawton Avenue bridge, CP Garcia Avenue-McKinley Hill ramp, repair and asphalt overlay of Magallanes Interchange, EDSA-Taft Avenue flyover, MRT Line 3/ LRT Line 1 extension common station, LRT Line 2 East extension up to Masinag, LRT Line 1 Extension (Cavite), EDSA- Roosevelt Ave. interchange, Espana Avenue-Lacson Avenue interchange, repair and rehabilitation and improvement of South Superhighway Makati, the NLEX-SLEX connector road and the EDSA-West Avenue-North Avenue interchange.

The MMDA also earlier proposed that campuses in Manila's university belt area which will be affected by the construction of the infrasture projects, relocate their classes to satellite campuses outside of Metro Manila.

“Offsite campuses will help decongest student population in Metro Manila which, in turn, will redound to lesser volume of commuter, pedestrian, and vehicular volume in our road networks,” Tolentino said.

Knowing how these geniuses think, I won't be surprised kung pagsabay sabayin nila iyan.
