Those commuter buses and trucks plying the highways in Japan eventually wind up here- and not just as surplus parts, but as reconditioned vehicles. Converted lang from right hand drive.
Sometimes when I go on vacation there, medyo na-lulungkot ako. You have to take the bus for some routes not served by trains & subways, and if nagtitipid ako kasi not worth it kumuha ng JR Pass sa mga pupuntahan ko, I take the long distance overnight buses.
Napapansin ko itsura ng mga buses and trucks na ito when they were in good condition (even some dekotora trucks on the highway) and you realize that these vehicles will eventually be disposed of dito sa Pilipinas. One truck I saw here still had the markings of the former Japanese company that operated it.
It's such a downer to realize na TAMBAKAN LANG TAYO NG MGA BASURA ng ibang bansa, and grateful pa tayo for their... trash (kasi nakamura and/or tipid sa pieza). Marami man magalit sa akin dito saying we are a sh*thole country, well, it's true.
